This panel is a hand laid / "open molded" epoxy and e-glass plate. The face plies are 6oz / 200g loose woven e-glass and the three middle plies are 12oz / 400g biaxial 'glass. Ply weights and orientation form a quasi-isotropic laminate balanced about the middle ply. The resin is Totalboat Fast 5:1 epoxy - very similar to WEST System.
The only method of consolidation here is the wet-out roller / bubble popper and lots of careful rolling. There's air in there but not so much that it isn't a representative example of what you might get if you built something this way. Peel ply helps keep resin from draining out of the lay-up and it gives a nice finished surface for the non-mold side.

Acetone can use to clean the bubble buster roller please? For 10×10 feet area lamination how many kg epoxy needed and rowing cloth for 2MM thickness?

Yes acetone works great for cleaning. Some safer options are available too. My guess based on scaling the resin weights here is that you'd need about 18-20kg of resin - maybe less if you reduce the glass weight by 200g to get closer to 2mm.

Do you have a suggestion of the composite to choose for highest tensile strenght?
@ExploreComposites
@ExploreComposites Год назад
That's a complicated question! My understanding is that s-glass and high-strength carbon are probably the best/most commonly used for strength specifically where stiffness is not a concern. But regular e-glass is pretty good too. But so many qualifiers - resin, lamination method, etc. What are you making?

Hi. I would like to make a cube-shaped tank, a wall 5 mm thick. During the work, the resin would probably flow from the wall. How to avoid this epoxy resin flow . Should I put on cabosil in resin ? Would fiberglass absorb resin well with cabosil? Do you have a solution?
@ExploreComposites

Adding cabosil/fumed silica helps reduce the runniness (increase viscosity) of the resin so it might help. People do this all the time. Shear thinned resin materials often have silica added but mixed in a fancy mixer at the factory. resin then flows under pressure but hangs well when left to sit. Peel ply might help too.

How many sheets will I require to make a laminate about 4mm thick??
@ExploreComposites
@ExploreComposites 4 года назад
Roughly 2750g total material - but probably less. Depends on the type of fiber: cloth, stitched, etc. This is 1600g or so of fiber but it's a mix of woven and biaxial - 200g on the faces and 400g in the middle.

@@ExploreComposites i was thinking is it strong and flexible enough for making a bow???
@ExploreComposites
@ExploreComposites 4 года назад
@@chettrisamrakchan You might want more unidirectional fiber for a bow so most of the glass is running along the length... many bows are made of fiberglass but I have never built one.

Could you show me by making one such laminate a longitudinal one ????

It sure isn't fancy! Do you have any suggestions get a better outcome? One of the best things about this for me is learning things I didn't know from other people!
