Lamley Awards: Best & Most Disappointing Hot Wheels Premium New Model 

Seeing all these new castings just shows how much Hot Wheels have really stepped up their game with their premium lines. The quality and diversity of all these new castings is incredible. Having to pick a "best" or "most disappointing" won't be an easy decision for me. We were absolutely spoilt this year. Thank you Hot Wheels! 😎

Tank car is SUPER AWESOME. I would cast my vote for it as the best car

My favorite was certainly the 930 Porsche. Can’t say I’m really disappointed with any of it.

man this year was so disappointing for me… all the stores in my city was so dry and never had any hot wheels in stock… and they barely restocked… i barely couldnt find anything this year… it was soo hard 😭

Best for me are kind of cliche but theyre the LB r34 and Mercedes c class. The r34 is already iconic but the LB silhouette version makes it even more so. The c class is incredible. The way they did the livery reminds me of miniGT with the wraparound effect and it just looks fantastic

Lamborghini Essenza is most disappointing for me easily. They messed up the proportions so badly! It was the casting I was most looking forward too, and now I’m planning on grabbing the Tomica version to replace the hot wheel in my collection

I certainly wouldn't have put those two Jay leno cars at the bottom of the list, but that tank car goes in my top 5. Torn between two Eurpoean Race cars and the newest Gasser. The '09 Ford Transit Connect is also very cool. . Love the curves on it and the pop off action.

man hot wheels is gonna make me go broke, trying to collect, modify my real car, and be able to put food on the table is quite the struggle😂

Best: Mercedes Benz C63 I’ve been asking for this car for ages and it turned out great Worst: Pandem RX7 it just looks off, and honestly I’d rather have a completely new car than a car we have with a wide body kit

After watching this i just wanna pull my 2 boxes out and spread all my hotwheels on the table and just look at them all lol. I do this once a month and my wife hates it. Shes like "your like a kid, can you stop making a mess cos i cant clean the table etc". hahaha

I just adore the SE-R.. I wanted one most of my life but could never find a nice clean one. I love how clean it looks. For me its SE-R, Merc wagon, Volvo 144.

That That '66 Chevrolet Corvair Yenko Stinger looks way better in person than in pictures.

The C63 Black Series is one of my childhood favs. I need that badly. Hopefully Ill find one for a reasonable price, and that GTR is just gorgeous.

The chase Willys truck might be the best chase car imo. Maybe not the best new model, but they way they were able to capture the patina look on the matte black is outstanding. As a big fan of patina/rusty designs I hope we get more like it in the future.

Looking at the votes this was the first time I agreed with the majority. LB-ER34 hands down epic. I also love the Alfa 155 and the M5 wish we could vote for more than 1.

John, when you do these, do you not include castings that are new to the premium line? Just wondering about others like the Bugatti EB110 or the Alpine A110 that are new premium castings. Thanks for putting it all together.

for me I have my vote for the Jay Leno .corvair has my vote.

I have he Auto Strauss, Dragstrip Demons and the Ronin Run sets already pre ordered and won't be available to mid to late February here in Canada.

I didn't know that the body was removable for the Ford Transit Connect, that actually made me come around on it. Reminds me of the Hyperliner, one of my favorite cars as a kid. The Transit Connect is not my favorite or most disappointing, but I respect it.

One thing that I can never get past with any hotwheels whether it be Premium or Mainline is the oversized wheel well arches and oversized wheels

I love that RX-7 Pandem, and Sentra! But my favorite is the Skyline Silhouette Motul. I am not too disappointed, but I wish the Pantera was released in black, I am glad was finally release.

How do you know when they will release in stores is there drop dates on a calendar so I don’t have to buy them on eBay for absurd prices

For me the 930 is easily the best, even though I'm an JDM fan. The proportions on the 930 is just tremendous, the lines is perfect. The casting is great too, can't wait wait to see what's the future of that car.

Holden Monaro is killer.. My favourite for sure.. Maybe a little biased due to being an Aussie but still think it the best.. Cheers all🎉

I went to vote and picking my favorite was tough because I like all of them. But to pick a disappointing one was mission impossible. None of these castings presented for voting were disappointing at all. Some were meh! cars in the real world, but their 1:64 casting execution by Hot Wheels were great to superior. None of them had recurring paint issues, disproportionate lines, ugly stances, inproper wheels, etc, etc. All were right-on. So none of them "disappointed" me. The word doesn't even apply. What would disappoint is collectors down-voting a casting because they don't like the 1:1 car it is based on. That is not fair for the casting and its designer.

Hot Wheels Premium was a major disappointment in 2022! All the imports and very little domestic. Also, terrible distribution. When they did show up on the pegs, they hung there for a long time. Not popular at all. I'm sure part of the distribution and production issues were due to covid restrictions in Asian countries. The Jay Lenno Tank Car is the clear winner of 2022 IMHO! Reading the comments section, you might want to reconsider your choice not to add it. Only found one on the pegs. No, it's not licensed, but still a very real car and not a fantasy casting. Why does it have to be licensed to be considered the best if it's a real car. I would love to see you do a pod cast with Jay and tell him why it doesn't deserve consideration as the best! Let's hope that 2023 is a better year for Car Culture, but I have my doubts until changes are made at corporate. A solid mix of domestic and imports are much needed!!!

Great year for New models!

The details in the tank car are great and it's easy to appreciate it for that. I think my favorite comes down to the Alfa 155. The JDM cars are great, but at this point, a little predictable. The engine the real Alfa is incredible and the proportions look good on the model. I wish the exhaust wasn't plastic, but that's my only complaint. Not many in this lineup that were too disappointing, but my picks would be the C63 Black and the Essenza. I felt like the details on the Lambo are left to the tampos and not the casting. The Benz just feels out of proportion. The wheel base seems too short for the casting to be that tall. Overall, great cars!

The most disappointing thing this year is Not getting all the premiums in your country, ie New Zealand, still waiting on two Boulevard sets, transporters, Jay Leno set, I know China has been in lockdown but most of our models come from Malaysia or Thailand

Couldn't agree with you more regarding your take on Hot Wheels Premium. It's been so great as of late from Car Culture, Fast & Furious, Entertainment, to Boulevard. Just wish they were easier to come by. My favorite model also happens to be my most disappointing because I love the car so much, but I feel as if it could have been better: the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. The casting is quite crisp with the same-size chrome 10 spokes, but the deco application left a bit to be desired. The taillights never lined up on any one I picked up and the headlights are not applied in the correct position. The exhausts should have been moulded into the casting as well. The rear-wing should also be carbon fiber, not body-coloured, which takes away some of the realism from the model. Overall, love to see Black Series cars in Hot Wheels because I'm into that era of special-edition sports cars and maybe we'll see the likes of the SL65, SLK63, CLK63, and SLS going forwards. This one could have been better, but it's still my favorite new model for what it stands for.

The best is the Nissan Sentra the Mercedes-Benz wagon would be the best two but door linens are horrible and flares need to be a little bit thinner

The Merc AMG wagon with the messed-up doors is the most disappointing for me…. It ruined a near perfect casting

So immediately when you show the first car... the horrible taste HW has left in my mouth comes rushing in. I have wanted a Mercedes Benz in the collection for years. My favorite body style was the C class in that 2012 year range. The ultimate C class is the c63. Why should I pay $10 bucks or more ($70 for the black) for a $5 car that will never be on the shelves? I hate HW. I still collect but it sucks premium cars are not made for normal collectors. At least make a mainline version so I can buy it. Edit: So 2 minutes later I pause the video and jump on eBay. Best deal is $10.50 for the red. Average seems to be $12. I see a double red for $15 so I jump on it in hopes to sell the second for at least $10 or better. Why do I have to do these things? Why does my local store not have 200 hundred on the pegs? The first 100 for the scalpers and the second 100 for the normal collectors.
