Absolutely beautiful card artwork - thanks for all the effort you put into these creations Julian. I keep the cards when I open the models. The castings in this set are fantastic - yes we have seen three of them before, but as a Japanese (and JDM) car fan this is still a wonderful must have set. Car Culture is a brilliant series - my favourite line!
Today i was blown away to find a few laurals and skylines at my local and right before i walked out the door i asked if they had any more out the back. Guy came back with 3 boxes so i got me two of every model in the series!
The C210 and Laurel are absolute standouts but the rest I could probably do without.. Amazing artwork though! I just wish Japan Historics 1 was re-released with full tampos ;)
For the people who complain about the price increase: You get more detail where it counts (headlights, tailghts) and metal body and chassis (Kyoshos use plastic bases and they're way more expensive in general) and good quality wheels. Personally, i like the clean look of this set and i look forward to get it. Skyline C210 and Nissan Laurel in particular. Thanks for showing these!
I know it's the detail you pay for the Koysho castings, not the bases.i'm just saying that people shouldn't complain about paying $1-$2 more, when they're willing to pay $20+ (or even way more) for a Super Treausure Hunt when these are better than STHs.And you actually have a chance to find them.
after watching this video I checked my set and my Mazda has Gray deep dish with a chrome rim wheels. similar to the one you displayed but with a chrome rim. can anyone please tell me more about this.
Just got back into 1/64 scale, it's good to see Hot Wheels finally offering a better product. The extra cost is totally negligible; they cost peanuts to begin with anyway, hope they keep this up.
The front of the RX3 needed to be painted too on the 2.0 car culture. I love the model and own the two previews one (and did pre-order a JH2 case) but I think it is weaker without painting on that particular part. Mattel Hot Wheels Team: go Bosozoku for the 3rd JH (the c210&laurel are almost boso and I know you know)
i'm not sure if i like the direction they're headed one of the best parts of car culture for me was that they were cheaper than full premiums like pop culture, and they had the same size card as the mainlines so they fit right in with my collection, but now big cards and higher price. but i do like the more detailed tampos and the card art. I'llstill buy these if i find them
I'm sure you feel gonna good about the dragstrip demons coming for this year? I think the new "direction" is... something for everyone. I only ask myself this notion...."how many more Camaros can Hot Wheels produce??" there are lots of other cool cars on planet Earth, aside from 60-70's American Hotrods. Get ready...GREAT things are coming.
a 240 with with both a g-nose and a bottom chin??? Front just looks too bulky now. Z is known for its small profile and curves. Wish they also decreased the size of those fender flares. They are ridiculously large. the 510 and laurel are gorgeous though.
Im so happy to see you Hot Wheels collector "traditionalists" go ApeSh#t about these... It just lets me know how soughtafter these are gonna be, given their EXTREMELY LOW production numbers.. Guess what folks! How many Camaros do you need Hot Wheels to make before your head explodes? YUP! There's a whole lot of cool cars in the world, and tons of Car culture that doesn't include JUST old, American Hot Rods. Get Ready, Hot Wheels Collectors IS-A-Changin' for the New generation... your kids and grandkids. Oh! also, lets not forget the Whole rest of the world too! So, thanks for the last 50 years and its time to move forward. but befoe you get all scrunched up... THere will still be your old usuals thrown in there too. Im sorry, this is a fantastic looking set of castings. This %0th year set of models is an homage to the ideology that new things will come, while still embracing tradition. Kudos, HW.
Still irritated at the price hike of everything Hot Wheels. Very little extra detail, a larger package, $1.50 more (on average). Should put plastic blisters on them like everything else in the $4-$6 range that every other manufacturer uses. THAT would justify the price, and save everybody else from going to spend another $2 per clamshell case too. Also, there's so much gap in the fender wells of that C210... Yup, totally worth the increased price.
Zero Shima no to the plastic bumpers. M2 uses them and so are crooked. I will agree though that more Tampos should have been applied and at this price point opening hoods.
You don't need to have flashy paint jobs all the time, but I'm pretty disappointed that the first set with the price increase is just full of very plain and boring looking cars. Bad marketing decision I feel like.
Yahwehs Blue boy that's because hot wheels lost the Ferrari license a few years back and they will be losing the monster jam license here at the end of 2018. Both losses cost them and now we as collectors will pay the price
das 1988 I dont know where you are getting your pieces from. I look at my casting before I buy them...no matter the maker. So if you are buying messed up pieces that's your fault , I have found garbage tampos and casting errors on hot wheels premium castings as well. So your point is??
