Yeah I'm starting to get burned out by all of the repeats as well. You're absolutely correct about the excessive packaging. On the fence rather I will pursue any more of these 2 packs.
I love the HKS set the most and I hope to find it. I missed out on getting the MK4 Supra so I'm happy to see it released again. I also hope to find it in store.
I'd get the Supra set and the HKS set, even though I already have the F9 Supra and the MBK Van. I honestly don't mind the repeats if they're good versions of the castings. It makes those popular models more accessible
I collect Subaru and picked up the JDK 6 pack 'repeat' in blue from the 2012 1st edition, the hood number is larger than all the '12 releases, very slight difference but good enough for me! I'm also glad we get production codes now as well to make sure we don't mix them up haha.
The R33 sooo desperately needs side mirrors, because it's easily the best executed casting of the 3 Skyline GT-Rs and the only thing holding it back is the lack of mirrors.
I wish they did boxes like maisto for these and the team transports. I like to open them but it’s also nice being able to put my maisto ones back in the box
I’m ok with the repeats but I’m more upset that Target or Mattel make such a limited amount of these that they are too hard to get hands on these. The pegs stay empty for 90% of the time.
This is anecdotal, but I don't have a hard time finding the multipacks; 5 car Car Culture sets are a lot harder for me to find. Target does a DECENT job stocking their exclusives. Walmart could care less.
All of these are a dud. But that's good... I don't have to worry about trying to find them at my local Target. I DO want that Matchbox Collectors Lexus back there tho.
I love the deeper orange of the new Paul Supra. I'm not sure about accuracy, but in my head the other releases with the pale orange just seemed off, the look in the movie was generally super fluorescent looking maybe just because of the color-grading on the film.
I think it's weird how they keep putting the HKS and Nismo deco on every Skyline. I remember in the 90's the HKS R32 was already legendary and unique, I don't think that livery was ever officially used on any other gen until recently. Same with the Nismo R33 checker side stripes. It changed from 'a single legendary car' to 'lets just put in on all skylines to sell more diecast'.
If Mattel's gonna "kill" the Hot Wheels i.d. app, then they should re-release more of their i.d. models as basic and/or premium models - I'd buy that R34 as a full-on premium in a heartbeat!
There's been a few occasions where the repeat wasn't a problem, because I never picked up tbe original release, but in most cases 1 car I want is trapped with another casting I have no desire to re-buy. It's funny too, because HW Premium distribution has been GARBAGE in my area for the past couple of years, but the 2 packs and TT always seem to be well stocked. They just have a habit of choosing castings I've already found, even though there's a TON I missed out on.
seeing that premium supra just makes me wish so badly that we would have a premium 2019 ND Miata. I desperately await the day we get more premium Mazdas
Hot wheels are going on fire with these repeats. And I don’t have the repeat cars already, and I don’t want to collect the fast N fourious because I don’t have a collection of em, and I will not get a collection of em.
I'd hate to admit that I'd probably buy the F&F Supra set if.I saw it at Walmart (which carries the 2-packs in Canada) only because I still don't have a premium version of Brian's Supra due to never seeing it in stores and buying the 2-pack at Walmart is probably still cheaper than buying any other premium Hot Wheels version of it on the secondary market. I wish it were paired with anything else (preferably another car from the first three F&F movies); the modern Supra really does nothing for me, it's very much a "hit by the ugly stick" kind of car. I'd be perfectly happy if it had been paired with Dom's Charger from the first movie since I still don't have a premium version of that one either. Yeah, I know they were already both in the panorama set but I never saw that particular one in stores either and these 2-car sets are less than half the price of the panorama sets in Canada. I don't like the panorama sets anyway because it's very difficult to remove the cars from the packaging without destroying the panorama. At least with the 2-car sets, you can cut the plastic open along the card, take the cars out, and then put them back in the packaging for storage since there's the plastic piece holding them in place instead of twisties like in the panorama sets.
Good point about repeating. The likes of this Supra, the silver R34, blue 34 and 70 Ford Escort RS1600 are often the first cars nabbed when released. Over here in Britain, the silver Corvette Grand Sport is the worst F&F pegwarmer model around, followed by the grey Jeep & few green Ford Torinos. But Grand Sport Vettes are just a plague in general. I don't know what they do with them all, but Mattel need to just stop sending so many to the UK.....
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 Do you mean the premium Corvette Grand Sport or just the basic version? Did the Corvette Grand Sport even get a premium F&F release? That's one of the other F&F cars I wish I had a premium version of (but I like Corvettes anyway).
@@SteveBrandon no, it's a basic mainline, but the shield & wheels are often varied. It's out as another mainline F&F packaged model. I don't hate the car but like the modern day Pontiac GTO (the Holden Monaro in Australia), its hanging on pegs, unwanted. We Brits are finally noticing the 55 Chevy Gasser more (I am certainly-great model), along with the Vette Gasser. I loved the green Volvo P1800 recent one...
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 If Mattel released the Corvette Grand Sport Roadster in Hot Wheels Fast and Furious premium with a ZAMAC body, it would probably sell well. It would look amazing as a ZAMAC.
While we ask for them to add chrome 5 spoke wheels on supra, can we also get a silver/chrome spoiler on supra. Hell why not make it an elite64 with a cage and a removable targa top
The 2 packs are starting to become stale in my opinion. I like repeats if there was a slight difference between the 2 versions but if they are the exact same then no not for me.
They are all killer❤ Please, please please can we have a targa mk 4 or do I have to cut my spare up. No disrespect intended! All 3 will be Bermuda triangle
I think HW is milking the F&F series very much in the same as Disney milks Star Wars... I think the HKS gonna go quick ... I'm more excited for that mustang set tho
there’s a thing i hate about the mk5 supra, and that’s the deco they used for the taillights. that is literally one car that toyota built for sema 2019. those aren’t oem taillights or the taillights on the movie car
Neither of the Supras from F&F1 are accurate. They should have metal flake paint and neither does, and there is a difference in the rear tampo. Still waiting for that release. The Gulf Mustangs will sell out in the Detroit area in a heart beat.
Repeats, Hotwheels, come on, that Gulf set is sad looking. I'm still going to get it, but you have a couple cars that could easily replace that new Mustang in it. You have the Gulf McLaren, OORRRRRR, another Ford model that made Gulf Famous, the GT40. If you can beat the F&F horse to death, I think you can run another Gul GT40
The Supra set will or at least should hang on the pegs like no other. Such a shame mattel is putting so many repeats in these now. Gulf set is okay but again a repeat and a not so desirable mustang. HKS will be the winner here but again sucks about a fantasy repeat…
These r cool, but disappointing. Mattel must be getting lazy in my opinion. I've found, and bought them, and now after watching thus, I feel I've been ripped off, because there all repeats. So I'm done with the 2 packs.
