Controversial opinion, but I think losing the Ferrari licence was a blessing in disguise, since it forced HW to improve their lineups from other European brands and not just rely on Ferrari
Yeah maybe a few castings dont get made but with the depth and width of the CC lineup now I don't thing you can say that...plus who wouldn't rather have Ferrari's still!!!!
If somehow Mattel ever does get the license gain from Ferrari, I assume the first thing we would see is an entirely Ferrari Car Culture release. The real question should be which five Ferrari castings would you put in it?
1) New, more accurate Ferrari Testarossa casting 2) New, more accurate Ferrari F40 casting 3) Ferrari 250 GT California (preferably in a non-red colour for those of us that already have the Ferris Bueller version) 4) Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso (new casting) 5) Some token modern Ferrari. I'm not that fond of modern hypercars but I somewhat like the Roma.
Great choices John definitely 80’s era k was born in 1983 so yeah o remember that poster definitely would be amazing set if Mattel got the licensing back great video likewise John
I wouldn't mind them trying to get the Ferrari license back as long as they don't go too crazy with the large rear wheels. Most people don't know they also had the Maserati license. A casting from them would be perfect in this set as well.
Did they retool the F40??? I didn't realize that, I hated the original F40 casting, it was soo bad. I think if they did a premium F40 and F50, it would be game over. Those would just be amazing, plus all the new Ferrari's that have come out since the license was lost.
Nice Ferrari's you have and you reviewed congrats.👍 Saturday was my birthday and I got real lucky last week I found at family dollar the Lotus Evija super treasure hunt and Friday at Walgreens there was only 2 cars on the pegs but one of them was the 1968 Corvette gas monkey garage super treasure hunt.👍This is the first time in a very long time that I have found 2 different super treasure hunts at 2 different stores in the same week.👍
I like the 458 spider casting a lot, I'd love to see an F8 spider. The Daytona SP3 and the Monza SP1 would be amazing unique Ferraris. Also, many may disagree, but the Purosangue is also a very unique Ferrari (At least it's a V12). The FXX-K would be cool, since HW made the FXX back in the day. The SF90 is pretty cool too. And of course the Le Mans winning 499P! I personally would love to see the Enzo in modern premium form though, that would be best for me. That's the car I always think of first when I hear Ferrari. As for older Ferraris they never did, I'd love to see the 400i, another unique-looking Ferrari, or the 1948 166 MM.
The day there's a properly well done premium casting of the F40 and F50 hardtop (along with many other 90s sports cars) in Car Culture, or any equivalent premium line, is the day I can finally rest in peace.
Other than a few brilliant castings it’s pretty obvious that if Hot Wheels gets the Ferrari license back there will need to be some retooling. As far as a Ferrari car to go in a future Spectacolare pack or just an 80’s/90’s super car pack…..if the Countach is one of the cars than I think the obvious choice is it’s rival the Ferrari Testarossa. We need a retooling of that casting though. Matchbox’s Testarossa was always by far superior. Anyway, I think the license deal is close based on Jimmy’s response at Nationals. Maybe that is why they are holding off on a white Countach. Maybe just maybe we get the white Countach along side a Red Testarossa?! A man can dream!
I'm at least happy that the old Lancia Stratos casting is in the Spettacolare set. I've long wanted a premium version of the basic Stratos Hot Wheels casting. Exact details about the master Ferrari diecast license seem to be an industry secret but I suspect it's up for bids once a decade, which would mean that the current licensing term would end at the end of 2024 and also that the rights for the next decade would be up for bids soon. I sincerely hope that Mattel gets the master Ferrari diecast license back (not so much because of brand loyalty but just so I can actually find Ferrari diecast at local brick and mortar stores in Ottawa) but, if not, I hope Mattel could at least cut a sublicensing deal with May Cheong Group or whomever else is the highest bidder when the rights are up for bids again. The big irony was that, when Mattel had the master Ferrari license for a decade starting in 2005, I actually could get plenty of diecast from current rights holder May Cheong Group in stores via the Maisto Ferrari "Assembly Line" diecast kits. These kits were super easy to assemble and were sold in kit form probably because the kit license is a loophole separate from the regular diecast license, so that MCG didn't have to sublicense Ferrari from Mattel.
As far as Ferraris go, I agree with your selects. But for the set, I wouldn't mind seeing a 'Premium' (instead of RLC) version of the De Tomaso Mangusta.
The "Robin 1" 308 GTS, is the Show stopper out of all that you displayed... FULL STOP!! That model with those wheels being the same size front and back, (and honestly, that style of wheel, is NOT a favorite of mine...) they ABSOLUTELY work on that particular casting!!!
Ferrari 308 GTS. That was Christie Brinkley's Ferrari in National Lampoon's Vacation. Beautiful car. The only Ferrari's I have are the First Editions , but I'm not complaining. I still think the Lambo Countach is the best looking Super car ever, but I'm digging that 80's dream team. I always thought the Thomassima III was a beautiful car. The front end looks a lot like a Greenwood Corvette . As far as Ferrari licence. Ferrari is too too strict about anything. They didn't even want the oil spill to appear on the card art to appear on any Ferrari cards. They think they are divas.
Yes the Ferrari License is gone but my first thought when I saw this set was like why don't we get a proper Lancia Delta Integrale in Premium. 🤔 I mean the casting is already there. Martini Tribute Livery or plain and clean. Strange.
Replace the original Countach with a yellow Ferrari 512 Testarossa and I think it would have been the perfect set. (Ideally id want a white TR, but theres already two white cars so yellow it is) If they were to come out with a new premium Ferrari I would love a J50
I like the "decisions" set idea. I would add that mattel should produce 100X the usual amount so they could come close to meeting the actual demand. And distribute to outlets more evenly. So we can actually find these castings. TIA.
Exactly what I was hoping in my Ferrari video and John is helping now, let's make noise, this way Mattel might hear and try harder to get the Ferrari license back!!!
The market creates the scalpers. If everyone just decided to only buy in store and not online from scalpers on the secondary market, then the scalpers would cease to exist because they would not be selling anything. But unfortunately people don't mind being price gouged I guess, just so that they can have their precious car at a convenience, instead of just hunting for it in store like we're supposed to. We the collectors create the problem of scalpers because we buy from them.
I know this video is 2 months old, but my local Walmart (and a adjacent Walmart at a nearby town), just got this Spettacolare set, glad I found it,it's a beautiful set My area Walmarts seems to get stuff later than most On a related note, just heard that this set will be released in the "shipping crate " form, seen videos showing ROSS stores has the "shipping crate " version of the Exotic Envy set
I can’t wait for the stratos, I’m about to look for one at my local Kmart cus they restock today!(it’s my favourite car) Update: I did not find it, but I’ll keep looking! I’m gonna get two and keep one in the packaging. UPDATE AGAIN, 10th September I FOUND IT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR TWO MONTHS WOAH! Short story: I found $5 on the ground yesterday and if I didn’t find that then I wouldn’t have been able to get the beautiful stratos. Luckiest weekend ever!!!
If Hot Wheels were to get the Ferrari license back, the only way they should debut its return is with a car culture set. Keeping with the era and theme of each of the cars in this set, this is how I’d do it. Guilia - 60’s Road Racer - 250 GTO Stratos - 70’s Road Racer - Daytona Competizione Countach - 80’s Supercar - 288 GTO 155 DTM - 90’s Racer - F40LM Countach - Modern Supercar - SF90 Stradale
@@diecastreviews11 hot wheels literally can't make Ferraris because they don't have the license to make them. They can't make Ferraris anymore unless Ferrari gives there license back but they wont
@@calebstuart1335 i do dude, if i didn't why would i say that? i said "they needs to try bringing them back not forcefully say "bring them now" :/ and yeah I didn't just "force" again I said they "need to get them back"
Sp1 sp2. 575m 575 superamerica 812 superfast 812 gts 488 gtb 488 spyder. 488 pista sf90 f8 tributo a new casting of the 360 coupe. The 360 spyber f430 coupe even the j50 and some of the other 1 off style ferraris would be a nice addition to my collection
In my opinion there should be more italian cars even in mainline. They have a Fiat license and we see only Fiat 500/500e in recent years. I would be definitely happy if they could retool Ritmo or make Fiat Coupe, X1/9, Barchetta or even crazy Multipla Custom :) Same with Alfa Romeo: we get GTV now and 8C quite often but there's so many iconic models from this brand. Good info was releasing Lancia Delta Integrale in mainline 2 years ago, I was really excited and I have three versions of this casting. Maybe Alfa 155 also will be mainline in future 🤔
Been collecting Hotwheels a long time and a big Ferrari fan so luckily we have a big Ferrari collection we recently dug out of my sons toy car box ( they are all grown up now )
I'm pretty sure the ferrari hot wheels were banned in 2014 because I could have sworn that I saw a new for 2014 ferrari laferrari before. But just imagine what kind of cars we would have if hot wheels still had the license. like the F8 tributo, The FXX K, or the SF90. I really hope they'll get it back in the near future.
It's not as simple as that, I'm sure the issue is on Ferrari's end, and Mattel would jump at the chance to have them back. That being said, I do hope they can sort things out at some point
You forgot MINI GT. They make Formula 1 Race Cars and they also have collaborated with BBR to make Maserati. BBR also makes high end Ferrari models so maybe we can have MINI GT make Ferrari race cars. Personally, I would prefer MINI GT to get the license because they can make a proper model without large wheels and ugly graphics
@@abbiravindhran8424 Actually if only i can afford to buy those, that could be nice but due to low budget, Hot Wheels is my only option and i don't like resellers prices.
Fitting video to post on tbe very day Ferrari takes tbe overall win at the 100th anniversary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time since 1965 with their first prototype class entry since 1973! Hot Wheels really does need to get thsy licensing again. It ended with 2014 and their 1/64 replacements from new licensee Burago were inferior next to most of the HW Ferrari line. I'm sure Hot Wheels could do an amazing 499P!
considering the problems hot wheels has had with Ferrari this would be impossible but i'd really like to see the Gas Monkey Garage F40 they did LOL! but since it seems Ferrari isnt exactly a fan of what they did to that car I'm guessing that's a no go hahahaha
IF Ferrari ever comes back it'll be Premium only I think as per Ferrari... As they are very...well...Ferrari. But yeah, If Ferrari ever returned it'll explode collecting wise... Then again Tarmac Works does a superb job with the detailing nailed
In my opinion I would like to see the Hot Wheels brand get the Ferrari license again. I don't think you would be loosing out on other European cars like Mercedes and so that we have seen lately. I personally really like Ferrari supercars they are one of my favorite supercars right up there with Lamborghini's especially the ones from the 1960s and the1980's like the F40 and some modern ones like 599XX like you mention in the video. I will say I think there is one casting that Hot Wheels did of a Ferrari that is overlook that you might have forgotten that Hot Wheels did before they lost the license that would be Ferrari XX. If you look at the casting it's not a bad one at all and it doesn't have that big back wheels that people have a problem with Hot Wheels castings even those I don't have problem with big wheels that's just the charm and style of the Hot Wheels brand. The FXX casting would fit the lineup if you want a modern racing Ferrari in the lineup and besides there are some people who really like the Enzo Ferrari supercar and that casting is just a more cool and aggressive version of the Enzo Ferrari. I really enjoy the video I just want to say Lamely keep up with great content this was a cool topic to talk about in the diecast community.
SF90 ...... 488 PISTA !!!....... But THE PERFECT CAR FOR THE SET THAT HOT WHEELS MADE- IT TAKES THE CAKE!! THE FIRST HYPERCAR 288 GTO GOOD call Lamley!!! .Come on Hot wheels get the Ferrari rights back PLEASE!!! Im getting excited just wishing....
A update... The Florida Man has a video about the Palm Event (a car show at Donald Trump's Mar A Largo) where The Florida Man talks to a Ferrari employee about the possibility of Hot Wheels getting back the Ferrari license
It would be interesting to know what goes into these license deasl. I'm sure they are unique to each manufacturer. I bet Ferrari were either too demanding and precious or wanted too much money or control. Why wouldn't you want your cars to be represented by one of the worlds biggest toy manufacturers and have the kids playing with toy Ferraris today become your customers of the future. Afterall every company wants brand loyal customers.
no they just didn't want to spend the money to extend the licensing deal with Ferrari so they called it quits. Tomica makes Ferraris as toys so its Hotwheels's fault for abandoning Ferrari.
