I went back and forth between the two videos. My favorite is the Lampizator on the local files. The good news is that I prefer the sound of my own system. Not saying there is anything wrong with this by any stretch. It just doesn't grab me. Lucky for me, as this system is 20x more expensive. Thank heavens I'm happy with what I have.

Don't compare apples to pears. PCM (MQA) and DSD are encoded differently and therefore are differently converted back to analogue using different reconstruction filters. Even the used Mastering could be different. Because you cannot separate the format and the media, that way the comparison is limited.

I didn't even put my headphones on but could clearly hear a difference. Both good..and had I not heard the DSD File I wouldn't have thought anything was wrong with the MQA. In comparison, over an Android phone I'd say the MQA has exaggerated weight to the notes, a wide and all outside soundstage...everything just a little loose. DSD was more focused, smoother..little more resolving. Those piano keys really had some weight to them on the MQA version. Maybe I'll think differently when I listen later with some headphones. Either way I thought it sounded great...both versions

Łukasz Fikus of Lampizator is huge fan of DSD format so it must play better on his dac

So I listened to both and the second version is better, and then I’ve compared this dac with the mola mola and the mola mola sounded a lot better

1:33. 5:08 3:45. 7:15 Local has more soundstage info. Tidal has better punch. I have lousy earphones 😅

Imo, the local file clearly better. Cleaner, less noise/hash, more fluid.

Once again the locally stored file wins hands down. Am I being prejudiced? I don’t think so (of course…). Anyway what amazes me the most is how much money can be spend, and one turns out with a system that you (I), would not be able to listen to, for a long period of time in the case of the first reproduction! Too sad… HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

What are the tech specs of the streams, are they both DSD? The streamers are ripping the tracks into mp3 or FLAC and relabelling them if they claim lossless DSD quality.

Lampizator Horizon sounds a little on the Warm and Fuzzy side, Especially compared to Local DSD Files! Local Files are far Superior in Resolution and Clarity! Jay, Thanks for this Comparison!

What SS amp is most tube-like out there? I have owned tube amps for the last 25 years and like the sound but I am considering ss if I can find amp that has some of the qualities of tubes but gets the benefits of ss. Better bass and quickness. Happy new year to you and your followers. Greetings from Iceland.

The question isn’t which is better; the question is how close can you make the sound of streamed music equal to the sound of a local file. Warning: this can be a chase down a bottomless hole.

I don't mean this is as an attack but you barely have 20 thousand subscribers. What audiophile would listen to 2 different formats of music on you tube to compare? No audiophile would do that . Come on Jay ! This is terrible! You are better than this . If you want more viewers you have to start taking this seriously.

Unnecessary. There was nothing wrong with this comparison; of course it’s going to be limited on RU-vid, but I enjoyed it nonetheless, and could tell the difference immediately. If you don’t like it, don’t listen; simple.
