Apparently testing cards and decks isn’t a priority for the hearthstone devs. How many times do they need to be reminded that direct damage and charge are bad for the game?
Maybe its just me but this card didnt even need testing to see how broken it is, the second I saw it revealed i thought “isnt that broken” because its literally just the 7 mana legendary shaman guy on a 3 mana common
But they did Test decks. Like for example that broken Tempo Shaman with AFK as their wincon. Truly op to do nothing on Turn 5, better make her give +1/+1 instead.
To be honest I don't think so. The issue with shockspitter hunter that it was a very effective aggro deck alredy and shockspitter added a way to finish games from 15+ health. Elem Rogue is really playing sub par minions and rarely can bring you that low and bursts you often across multiple turns, so you often can gain health
@@nikolakarapejevski if it didn't go face the card would be useless. up the Manacost maybe to make it slower/remove the interaction with Sonya that way it loses more often against Aggrp, can get outhealed or outarmored. Oh but nerf the other 4 otk decks too.
@@darkgrundi9543 Or we can just recognize that once again shadowstep is causing problems but blizzard has such a hardon for the card that they will probably nerf the only good elemental they have ever made instead.
seems to have a good matchup against that rogue deck, cause they draw a billion cards so why not? Also the expansion launched mid month so he could have been there since July 1st.
@@darkgrundi9543 Plague DK is a lot like lamplighter rogue in that they play subpar minions, except instead of getting to do 30+ damage in one turn you spread your 30 damage out over 30 turns. And rely on getting your key legendary in the first 4-6 turns.
They recently released skarr, a shaman only legendary for 7 mana with basically the same effect. This is 3 mana, neutral and not legendary, meaning you can have 2 copies. How did they think this was ok lol
@@Jay2646 no what happened is they hired a bunch of former pro hearthstone players who all apparently love the cycle your deck and OTK your opponent style of play, which is why they keep pushing this garbage every expansion. But they routinely miss the memo that the vast majority of the hearthstone community does not want that style of gameplay.
Ive been enjoying HS less and less. This is the worst expansion ever. Im a rogue main and i feel like if im going to win I HAVE to play this dumb deck. Or get steamrolled by Elusive Zilliax spam, and Spell Dmg Druids. No creativity, no balance, no strategy. First to get BS in hand wins.
It’s actually even more egregious because at least the shockspitter wasn’t allowed in a class with access to shadowstep and hunters ability to draw cards VASTLY lacks compared to rogue. If shockspitter hunter works in spite of the class it is in, this works and then gets much better because it also happens to be usable in rogue.
I know the deck has a lot of inevitability, but the lack of killing things when they had the chance from that one druid was painful. took something like an extra 8 damage from not clearing the board when they had a chance.
Was the first game I played and logged out after. There is zero point to player vs player gaming when you have no say you just sit there and watch otk happen .That is a huge problem with the game it's design players really don't care what you are doing they are just waiting for their otk combo to arrive then hit the emote.
THe problem is that after so many years they stioll have not managed to let rogue be viable without shadow step. The whole class lives and dies with a single card.
I'm kinda worried about how they will perform lamplighter because it's actually fine in other elemental decks as a good bit of extra reach but Rogue bounce shenanigans had to break it. I hope it maybe gets nerfed to a 5 mana 4/3
Looking at it from the viewpoint of a sane human being, 4 mana should have been the floor for this effect. I could see a mana nerf bringing it in line, much like the Naga Sharpshooter nerf
Part of me wants this card to not get nerfed, 'cause I'm so tired of facing infinite value decks. Can't we just have at least one deck that doesn't rely on random cards to win after a 20 minutes game?
Hot take: I don't believe Lamplighter should be nerfed. It's a card that finally enables Elemental decks for three different classes, which is amazing. Elemental Rogue is also a low tier 2 deck with MANY and I do mean MANY weak matchups. Almost all the good aggro decks beat it. Also, it's a direct counter to virus warrior and I love that. If they nerf anything I hope it's rogues bounce cards because it's unfair to nerf shaman and priest because of shadow steps sins.
I hope, that if they nerf this, they change it to "Once per game" instead of "to a minion" so it just target this specific problematic deck. I hate when they nerf Neutral cards because of one single class.
Played against this deck with my thief rogue. Luckily got 22 armor up before turn 7. Still got absolutely bursted down since they played 4 firefighters on turn 10
Idk if Chump reads comments but what about a Reno Paladin Incindius deck? Kind of like his Reno Paladin deck that shuffled bombs into the opponent’s deck
Yes. Devs have ignored how problematic shadowstep-like effects are in rogue for years. They always went after whatever card became broken when played repeatedly. There's no reason to believe they do anything different now.
@@Mossmage Because Rogue isn't allowed to get good cards due to Shadowstep being in rotation genius. The miniaturize card that discounts other cards is almost assuredly 5 mana solely because of Shadowstep. That card would be "fine" at 4 mana if you couldn't constantly repeat it and this is just one example. They literally cannot print good battlecry or immediate effect cards for Rogue due to them refusing to get rid of step. Notice how almost all the problems with step are almost always random neutrals.
ok been playing this all morning it loses heavily to spell mage. They can get 0 cost fireballs by turn 6 they just beat you down they even have so much AOE damage and they can find it easily if they don't have it. If you nerf this then spell mage takes over.
Agreed. Think about all the OG or very early Hearthstone class cards that had to eventually be nerfed or completely taken out of Standard. Frostbolt, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Wild Growth, Hunter’s Mark, Starving Buzzard, Equality, Ancient of Lore, Fiery War Axe, Divine Favor. And yet, somehow, despite being more toxic and development-restrictive than any of those examples, Shadowstep STILL has never not been part of the Rogue set.
To be honest, when I got to legend today (for the very first time!) playing Lynessa paladin, this match up always felt free. I know that the data doesn’t support the deck, but the only match up that I felt like I had no chance against was Demon Hunter. Against Druid and Warrior it felt even, and against pain Warlock and this Rogue deck I felt dominant. It even felt surprisingly even with Hand buff paladin. I think that people may be sleeping on Lynessa.
Elemental rogue really shouldn't be a thing. But the real culprit here are as always shadow step and breakdance. Lamplighter is not a problem in other "real" elemental classes.
with elemental mage I have win against warrior doing 31 damage, but was a really tight match, hopefully it only goes to 4 mana so the rogue can't do that ridiculous combo.
How the fuck did they print a 3 mana "Deal X damage" minion and not expect some degenerate aggro/combo deck to emerge? I thought they moved away from this design philosophy a long time ago lol
Of course the only deck that I was interested in playing is going to get nerfed. In a meta where Warriors, Druids, and Paladins are destroying everyone with no answer, this combo deck will be the first on the chopping block somehow because Blizzard is inept.
been playing spell damage druid with the new mage cards and the only deck i lose to is the otk death knight for paladin combo, been going like 30-3 right now

do you REALLY think they are gonna balance anything? unbelievable... I just had a mage table two 5/5s, a 2/3, two 1/2s, all while taking out my 2/4 and 4/3 on curve with coin minions. this game CANNOT be balanced behind the scenes, the ONLY thing holding it all together is their algorythms that control which cards you are allowed to see each game.
I played against a Rogue with this deck and it went multiple turns without playing an Elemental, but its Lamplighters still had full damage on them. It’s a very misleading effect because I thought it worked like Skarr, the Catastrophe, but no.
OTK used to be, while discover doesn't really factor into this decks it's enabled many OTK's decks. Need a spell from your deck for the combo? just discover it.
Taking 23 direct damage, from hand, on the opponent’s 7-mana turn. Seems that whoever is in charge of curating the Standard mode environment at Blizzard is completely inept.
Do some out of the box thinking and don't show us oppresive decks we're aready seeing in ladder. Like, yay, wow, you're playinga boring ass OTK deck. Good for you, but that's not why I'm susbcribed.
Counterpoint: I don’t enjoy the Chump content that features a “fun” but non-viable deck. I like when Chump showcases decks that are off-meta but still at least viable.
Go watch Mark in dumpster silver then? This meta is absolutely awful to showcase "fun" decks because the game is over by turn 7-8 to any of these combo decks or you match up into Warrior/Druid and can never do anything on the board anyway since there are 20 unkilliax.
