This show broke me and then put me back together. The series is very long but worth every second. I love watching people reacting to it. It's almost like I get to watch it for the first time all over again.
The character arc and growth that Lan Wangji goes through is incredible. From being so strict and rigid with his rules and beliefs to questioning everything. Him questioning all the beliefs and rules that have been ingrained into him since birth. Him questioning whether there really is only one path for goodness and righteousness. Him questioning how to differentiate good and bad. Him questioning his own clan's teachings and talking back to his uncle. Him choosing to stay beside WWX because he believed in him and believed it was right despite everyone else saying the opposite.... It is way more difficult that one would think.
The Untamed was my re-introduction into the Chinese movie industry - and it did not disappoint. Everything about this drama is supreme. Congratulations to all the staff that made this possible, I cannot thank you enough. UK viewer
Lan Wangi was in Wang Yibo’s career destiny: he totally nailed it with his looks and characterization! Just so perfect!! 👌. Who could not fall in love with such a sweet and complex character? From an introvert and shy guy he learned to open up to new beliefs to follow his heart for the person he cared for (his love or his friend up to your conception of the story) but Lan Zhan and Wei Ying’s relationship is definitely sweet and remarkable!! Once you watch it, it stays in your heart!! ❤💚
Lan Wangji was known for his righteousness, honesty and for being a very powerful cultivator. Everyone, those from different clans and even commoners knew about him and respected him. Most were even scared of him. The book is written from Wei Wuxian's POV. And Lan Wangji remains cold and showing very little emotions on his face to the very end. But the beauty is that throughout the story, Wei Wuxian learns to read Lan Wangji through his cold face and realizes that Lan Wangji was a person who felt and loved with burning passion from the very beginning. Initially it was only his brother who could read Lan Wangji that well. But then Wei Wuxian learns too. And yes, WWX did break through LWJ's rigid self. There is a lot to rant if I start about the two of them. But just to summarize in one sentence, they are wonderful characters!! Their love story is a slow burn because of all other adventures and mysteries mixed in the story. But the confession and them getting together is sooo good and all the events culminate to pay of so well. The drama, even though censored, did not lose its core and its characters. The anime version is also great!
I've watched The Untamed more times than I care to admit (after finding it in 2021). It will be one of my favorite dramas forever. I bought the English translation of the books as well. Literally began watching it again today after finishing the first season of Chinese drama 'Lost You Forever'. Love the U.T. characters Lan Wangji (Wang Yibo) and Wei Wuxian (Xiao Xhan) equally!
The Untamed was my introduction to Chinese dramas. It has great storyline, excellent acting and wonderful OST. I don't know what it is but it draws you in and you're hooked for good. It remains my very favorite Cdrama. And yes, it is long, 50 episodes.
Ah, I loved this edit by Mondfilms! There is a companion video to this one on the same channel called "Wei Wuxian" - would recommend it. Wuxian is such a morally gray character in this story. He does do some pretty morally ambiguous stuff in the name of justice (though in the Untamed adaptation, they make him less of a gray character...). Which ends up going against what Lan Zhan has always been raised to see as evil or wrong, and everything that is 'good' or 'right' has to follow a set of rules. Wangji never gets enough screen time in fan edits in my opinion (maybe because he has like 10 lines in 50 episodes lol), which is a shame because his internal struggle is so interesting to watch. It's nice to see more Wangji content. Thanks for reacting!
I'm so in Love with this show that I've watched it more then 13 times since the year it aired, like i watched it for the first time, then 1 month later rewatched it again, then i made my younger brother watch it with me, then my older brother, a year later i watched it with my ex boyfriend, and then when i got a girlfriend i watched it with her too, i also forced 3 of my friends to watch it and right now as I'm typing this I'm listening to the audiobook version while thinking about rewatching it again, In conclusion the untamed has become my Love language, i share it with those i love.
Our forever boys. Untamed will forever be my all time favourites. Touches so many aspects of life, contructs and deconstructs things previously believed in.

This serie is everything. It's beautiful, it's full of sadness, full of joy, we can connect with the emotions of the characters, it's a complete different world with a bit of magic in it, but it's impossible to do not envi the pure love that Wei Ying and Lan Wangji are feeling for each other. If I could, I would leave everything behind and start a new life in the universe of this serie where martial arts, love and nature are the biggest part of a human life.
I adore this story. Watch it, read it, enjoyed the audio play, have bunches of merch 😅😅😅. It’s brilliant storytelling about every kind of love, prejudices, and the different kinds perceptions of good/evil.

Lan zahn has so much power and he used it to protect Wei Wuxian, he loved him because he gave Lan Zhan attention and like his father wanted to protect his mother. Read the books, there is so much more
This drama and every single bit of media for it are my all time favorite! I've watched, listened to and read it all so many times I've lost count. To me, there is no better Chinese drama than The Untamed. But the novel, donghua and manhua were also amazing and a must if you decide to go down the Untamed rabbit hole.
No matter how many bls I watch, these two will always hold a special spot in my heart. Read the novel, watched the drama.... still remains an all time favourite...❤

And anyone who doesn't understand or critiques WYB as LWJ, you guys need to watch his eyes, the subtle chages in the curves of his lips. He played LWJ exactly as LWJ is supposed to be, cool, calm, unreable, unless one truly pays attention.

Omg yes! This is one of my favourite Untamed vids. It was also one of the first ones i watched after finishing the show. I stumbled across that Mondfilms account and they ruined me for basically every other edit lol. Just absolutely stunning work. They do vids for other characters too, and each one feels like a character-specific movie trailer. The Lan Wangji one is probably the most spoiler-free for people who havent watched the show, but I also really love their Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, and Nie Huaisang videos. Perfection!!!
In the book it takes three years for Lan Wangi to recover from that beating-one stroke for every member of his sect injured at the night battle where he fought with Wei. Wang Yibo was quite young when he made this. And he was great.

You watch so many The Untamed videos, you should give the show a try, give it a try (don’t give up as the first few episodes are hard but then the show picks up and doesn’t let you down). The show is amazing and captivating. Love the show. I rewatched the show so many times that I don’t read the subtitles anymore 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love your reaction- there is no Boot camp. Most martial arts films, even the old Shaw Brothers have emphasis in martial arts or eastern religious themes or blending of the two. It is however, seldom you come across an Idol drama that is this layered. Even the secondary characters are given a rich background. As to the plot, it definitely has that “Kaiser Sose” vibe as to who is the power behind the development of the plot. And although the attitude towards same sex relationships is censored - I Cant think of many Chinese dramas or films where brotherhood- or sisterhood does Not override romance. This story, however, is very much a slow burning romance and relatively- as dramas go - true to the spirit of the novel. I don’t know if you have had the chance to read the novel, or watch the show yet and I don’t want to say too much…but I think you will like it, even with slow mo falling sequences and Giant turtle CGI.
Just a spoiler or whatever my comment is. The show edited the final scenes. The ultimate end in Chapter 50 is when we see Wei Wuxian, Lan Zhan and Nie Huaisang in Gusu, in front of the tablet where Gusu rulea are inscribed. The ending we see in the drama is where Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian part ways on the grassy mountain of Gusu. The censorship obviously did not want to imply that these two men started living together in Cloud Recess.
LAN Wang Ji is a perfect character that represents an emosional dostant away. He's the male version of Xiao Long Nu in The Return of the Consor Heroes, the female lead. There were scenes of separation of I'm not mistaken 13 years and when I warched that I feel I was rewwarching the Return of Consor Heroes. The difference of the characters make them unique and stand togetheri spote of the huge oppsositions, the extrovert and inteovert. I feel sorry for the character since he kept all the pain inside without being able to express the hurt openly bit jus the facial expression.😢
You need to make you smaller and The Untamed much bigger so that we can read the subtitles. Love this epic story - well worth the 50 episode watch, rewatch and then watch with friends sucked in by the enthusiastic responses.
I have watched the untamed so many times it's a beautiful lovestory. You should also watch love and redemption that also is very gd its not like the untamed but its such a beautiful TV show . Please do a reaction on this chinese drama

AH YES! You're watching the MONDFILMS videos. I would lose my mind if you watched all of the videos they made for the different characters in The Untamed. There are only a few videos but all of them are incredibly well made and really sum up each character well. Personally my favorite is the Nie Huaisang video 👀👀
