Lana Del Rey performs her cover of Kasabian's Goodbye Kiss for Fearne Cotton from the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Listen to the whole session, her interview with Fearne and pictures here www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01g4f67
When i heard her sing it close to 7-ys ago I thought another classic Kasabian may have written it but Lana made the song what it is today one of mine + millions of her fans all time favs🎶💜
That's happened to me a million times on stage. I swear you get scared because you are so focused on the singing you don't expect anything to "touch" your face
Am I the only one in love with her speaking voice as well as her singing voice? She sounds so quiet and polite, like Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn. I love her.
@Tori she doesn't actually speak like that, it was a high-pitched voice she put on during the Born To Die era. Listen to her interviews from more recent years
@@raanasyed8249 I don’t think it was put on I think it just changed from age and moving from new York to La and if you look at videos of her before she was “Lana” she has similar voice to btd era
What I like about this performance is how raw, subtle and soothing it sounds. Lana doesn't add riffs or any vocal gimmick to boost her voice, she simply delivers it as if she's singing a lullaby alone in a small bar with all the lights turned off. It gives the song a hazy, poignant touch that sounds authentic and oddly warm despite its bitter lyrics.
Walter Velvet Gregson riffs aren't bad. Just terribly used by people like Christina and Ariana. Mariah Carey knows how to use them and uses it better than anyone out there
+Gumballswift13 I'm not necessarily saying riffs are bad. They just wouldn't have fit with the style and melody of this particular song. I think it's nice of Lana to deliver this song in such a sincere and traditional way that it pays homage to the original while sounding totally organic.
Jeremy S Whenever I’m sad (tonight yikes) I’m also in a comforting state of acceptance. I’m sad because I come to the realization this is how things are.
Even though she didn't write these lyrics, you can still tell that she really relates to the lyrics in this song - that Kasabian wrote a song that Lana could really sing and identify with the feelings of the song.
im so sick of people saying she cant sing, but really her voice is beautiful and authentic, i have seen her live and i was truly shocked at what an incredible live performer she was!
@Lolol Lololol Why would you think that? I love this, but there are at least two points where she flats out a bit. Why would an engineer autotune something so poorly? Face it. She has a flawed but very beautiful voice.
oromis995 Of course they can. A hardcore fan of a band (like me or him) will always by default consider thier favorite band's version better. So he admits they both are good even though he tought this would be way worse compared to the original. What's the problem here?
emna EB Look up "Lana Del Rey, BBC lounge 2016, and she's performed her most recent songs. Including, honeymoon, terrance loves you, high by the beach, etc.
Adhitya Wisadha Singing effortlessly and having such an incredible voice at the same time is the trade of the best singers, nevermind what haters can say
This is a perfect example of how a sensitive reading and an insistent current of deep, warm, and vibrant feeling can expose as foolish the idea that her occasional pitchiness proves she "can't sing." If Lana were a singer in the postwar period, her closest rival would have been Julie London.
Thomas Hofheinz I looked up Julie London and she was fantastic, if she was alive she would be doing Lana covers. I like Lana's flaws though they make her more "human".
Doomed from the start We met with a goodbye kiss I broke my wrist It all kicked off I had no choice You said that you didn't mind 'Cause love's hard to find La-la-la-la Maybe the days we had are gone Living in silence for too long Open your eyes and what do you see No more laughs No more photographs Turning slowly Looking back, see No words can save this You're broken and I'm pissed Run along like I'm supposed to Be the man I ought to Rock and roll sent us insane I hope someday that we will meet again Running wild Giving it everyone Now that's all done Cause we burnt out, that's what you do When you have everything It can't be true La-la-la-la Maybe the days we had are gone Living in silence for too long Open you're eyes and what do you see The last stand Let go of my hand Turning slowly Looking back, see No words can save this You're broken and I'm pissed Run along like I'm supposed to Be the man I ought to Rock and roll sent us insane I hope someday that we could meet again You go your way And I'll go my way No words can save us This lifestyle made us Run along like i'm supposed to Be the man I ought to Rock and roll sent us insane I hope someday that we will meet again

Nikita Bunas i was reading the comments section hoping that someone knew the amazing group that made this song, but it seems like you’re the only one..
Listening to this song , I can imagine a couple who has been together for a really long time and are now breaking up. But it isn’t a dramatic one. It’s sort of an understanding. Like they knew this would come along. Of course there is sadness but they knew that they couldn’t be each other’s forever but they love each other. Their relationship is empty now and lanas voice is so unbelievably expressive that I want to cry for a relationship I’m not even a part of.
This is exactly what happened to me last week... I keep listening to this song today, and I understand every single feeling that became words into it. It's exactly like you said... No drama, just emptiness, cause the road ended, but we knew and saw it coming. It's bittersweet because we both know we're better off, but still care for each other, and can't help but feeling sad to what could have been...I know I do. 😞💔
Broke me phone doing pull ups on the tree, it fell and I landed on it. Uncovered my 7 year old phone, found all those messages from age 22-24 - so many people, so many pubs, so many incidents, so many tunes, like this one. Nostalgia bomb.
This song never fails to bring back the memories from when I first heard it. Its so melancholy for me and yet hauntingly beautiful. Could never get tired of it
Quite possibly my favourite cover ever, the sheer emotion that she has injected into this song is amazing, just wow! Lana Del Rey is a true gem of modern day music👏💎❤
“You go your way & I’ll go my way.” 💔 Nothing more depressing than accepting that something that could’ve been so special is inevitably coming to an end.
