For me (and a lot of young people) Lana Del Rey represents a lot of vague nostalgia for an America that we will never know and for an America that probably never existed. She is a "rebel without a cause" spirit, that is both hyper-glamorous and materialistic (her makeup and hair) but is also restless and nomadic. She is a dream, an American fairytail. She is both Marlyin Monroe, the other woman, and Jackie Kennedy, the queen/faithful wife. Personally, I think her live fast die young mantra is kind of wrapped up in her idolization of Monroe and James Dean and Elvis. It is really hard to her put into words. I hope this shown some light!

+Vivan Lovelle Live hard, live fast, die young... or, as I like it, live hard, live fast, and leave a bloated, disgusting corpse :) It IS a sort of "vanished America" thing, uniquely 1950's ish. Very alien to me still but I do understand HER attraction.

Emilia Lovelle Lana the character yes, but the real woman is pretty down to earth. In fact I wouldn't even say the character is shallow; she constantly deals with the downside of the opulent life and wishes for security, true love, and wants to be loved for herself (YaB, NA, Ride, etc) and actually enjoys the simple life (Ride, Video Games, Queen of the Gas Station).

This was about her life when she was known by her real name Lizzy Grant, "a not very popular" singer. She had a hard life, living in a trailer park, singing in dive bars in New York, and waitressing. This went on for years, until she changed her name to Lana Del Rey, and her song Video Games went viral on RU-vid and she became famous.

Lana Del Rey explained in an interview 'it was about my feelings on free love and what the effect of meeting strangers can bring into your life: how it can make you unhinged in the right way and free you from the social obligations I hope we're growing out of in 2014.' She also said that the video 100% reflected her life. I hope that helps in understanding it a bit more :) Also can you please react to National Anthem or Young and Beautiful by her

Your eye brows have a look of utter confusion. I love the honest reaction. 😉 Lana isn't for everyone but I really enjoy her songs and her videos. Listen to the words but don't take everything too literally. It's art, interpret it how you want, see how you relate. This song make me feel like driving cross country with the windows rolled down on a warm, balmy day.

If I can't think of anything to say, I want to still be REACTING- there are W-A-Y too many "reactors" out there who don;t REACT to the bloody video. So even when I can't think of anything to say VERBALLY, I try to let my BODY speak as well- my face is made of rubber and I let it show everything I feel. My body, while sore from fibromyalgia, can still use body language to communicate non-verbally. I want to REACT, by golly- if I can't think of something to say or something to DO to show what I feel/think, then I quit the video there and go on to the next one.

when a person is involve in drugs specially meth one feels that this song fits perfectly. Ride means just get high War in my mind is the drug addiction Tired of feeling like Im fucking crazy meaning when you hit rock bottom you do feel like you are going insane this drug makes you feel rapidly attached to another person but that person might not want that so he/she leaves you high and dry...meaning at the end of the day you are left alone meth is all psychological addiction. makes you feel sometimes most times that you have to be around other ppl.

I never want to use that. I've been/am addicted to alcohol (been sober since 2k) and I KNOW I have an addictive personality- and that comment you made, I understand entirely.
