@@sophiasocal68 I haven’t yet. I just recently got the plans out to make a list of materials to start. I’m going to start with the vertical and horizontal stabilizers then build the wings and tackle the fuselage last. There’s a ton of wood in this one unless you get the fiberglass fuse from fiberglass specialties.
@@jakewheat6552 Just looked on the F.S. website, the fiberglass fuselage has been discontinued. I fly giant scale civilian planes, but it seems just when I want to buy a particular plane it's discontined. I need to start a company that makes civilian scale airplanes!!
@@sophiasocal68 I’m the same way. Love any GA aircraft. You could make a glass fuse fairly easily. I’m even debating it myself since wood is so expensive. Cut out the cross section formers and sandwich foam blocks between them. Cut the foam down close to the forms and sand it to shape from there using the formers as guides. Lay up several layers of glass cloth and epoxy resin over it. Cut the fuse down the center on the top and bottom to get the foam out. You can either use the halves as a mold or re-join the halves and use that as the fuse. I thought about shrinking the plans down to a 60 size plane. I just want a Lancair to play with lol
@@jakewheat6552 Definitely sounds like a lot of work. Although winter (building season) is nearly here so why not? If you ever go on RCU ...I post in the giant airplane section sometimes, there are a couple posts of my airplanes. Sophiaflygirl
