Lancair Flying with GRT Autopilot 

Yup… just gotta get that camping equipment and planning of the journey nailed down.

I have the WS version: will eventually upgrade to the latest version (at least one of the screens) if the spirit moves me :-) All models of GRT control the servos directly with no AP external unit required. Newest versions of GRT have a nice IFR type screen that pops up as well (not mine). Except for Garmin, I find both Dynon and GRT (newest versions) offer the same more or less. Garmin although really nice is LOTS of money and always need to buy SOMETHING else to make it work. 3k solution with GRT or DYNON is never JUST 3K for Garmin. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have all Garmin but unless they suddenly become a sponsor, it won't happen for me. AGAIN... I love the Garmins but just way out of my price range. @@HUDPilot thanks for your reply and impressions on the different brands. I did check out your Lancair Tour video... and you provided a wonderful overview of your panel and avionic systems. And hey, if the WS is functional and reliable, I do not see why you should up grade to the EX. ~$4000 for brighter screens, synthetic vision, and a little a faster processor. I am leaning toward GRT because they seem to play nice with other brand/components... so I can integrate some of my existing avionics. Oh! I really emjoyed your series on the vinyl wrap!

CardinalFlyer, You've pretty much nailed it with you comment on GRT playing nice. In all honesty, when I first started flying with the system, I used it as a basic six pack AND I pretty much still use it that way lol. Someone I know has an all Garmin panel and decided to move to Garmin Pilot just to round it all up together (has since gone back to Foreflight). Updates for all the garmin stuff was over 1k PER YEAR! That's a bit much for me. I am looking forward to Sun n Fun in two weeks to see what all the vendors will be showing this year as "NEW". Thanks again for stopping by.
