The 1995 55 over 1 day cricket final between the mighty Lancashire and Kent introduced by Tony Lewis. 2 very good 1 day sides with 2 teams packed full of talent. Lancashire with England players Mike Atherton, John Crawley, Neil Fairbrother and Mike Watkinson plus one of the worlds all time best all rounders in Pakistans Wasim Akram. Kent with Aravinda De Silva of Sri Lanka who was a fantastic batsman and all rounders Mark Ealham and Matthew Fleming plus fast bowlers Dean Headley and Martin McCague. It turned out to be an exciting final

Wonderful to be able to watch the highlights from such matches. Thanks for sharing. I used to watch cricket on TV all the time from the 70s onwards, with the occasional live match. Just wish it was on terrestrial/free TV still.

I don’t know how Tony Lewis managed to get through the whole thing without a large team of helpers! Also just 4 commentators got through a 55 over match.

Hi, I only have the semi final of this competition which is already uploaded (that was a very exciting game by the way). Did have a few more matches but got rid of the tapes unfortunately. I kept this footage as I went to the final. Had a lot more snooker videos than cricket.

Arivinda DeSilva played one of the great one day innings here, but Kent were always behind the game in this run chase. The rest of Kent's batters didn't contribute much !

I went to this match and was in the Mound Stand directly behind DeSilva went he was out. I went as I had £100ew at 12/1 on Lancs for the tournament and got a ticket on the day off someone who had a spare for £40. They were Lancs supporters and I sat with them. I'd already profited on the ew part of the bet once Lancs reached the Final and was getting a little anxious when De Silva started hitting it around to all parts.

I remember Martin McCague playing for England in the 1994/95 Ashes series in Australia. I wasn't impressed.....

108 off 27, pretty lame by today's standards. 160+ is par these days. As is 143 off 36, this is 90 to 100 behind a modern decent score for only 1 down. So they only scored 35 off the 10 overs between 26 and 36

That's nothing - in the 1979 World Cup, England scored 165-9 off SIXTY overs in a group match v Pakistan - and it was a winning score!

DRS was introduced to eliminate the clear and obvious mistakes. Unfortunately it quickly went the other way and soon enough, players were referring every decision, apart from the clear and obvious wickets!! Such as being bowled, the batsman knowing that he's plumb LBW etc.

@@mrkipling2201I agree with you about DRS. I always thought introducing it was a bad idea. It slows the game down. Cricket authorities should only ever introduce new measures that remove delays and detract from the entertainment provided to spectators.
