So let me get this straight. The throttle stuck, the brakes didn't work... and the kill switch was broken. Either someone put a hit out on that kid or the mechanic was fucking out to lunch.
Yeah, my killswitch "wouldn't work" either if I didn't properly press it after I had nearly hit 'n runned 2 people aswell... Basic rookie panic and forgetfulness. Nothing more.
@@ThatsMrMaxHeadroomToYou You have no clue what is happening in this video. This looks like a lean run away condition which can happen with a two stroke engine. Kill switch has no effect and these micros; I have been told, have only one brake which is mainly used just for helping set and turn it.
This is hilarious to think about. Like them just thinking, "wtaf is this kid doing!?" "Wtf kid the race hasn't started" "Wtf why is he going off track", and my personal favorite, "What the fu. . . . OH SHIT!!!"
If they were to see this Video, they will see, @45 seconds, in, he tried to use the Infield Worker as a ""Human Ramp", so as to achieve Liftoff, in an effort to become the first person, named "Chase", to enter "Space", during a Sprint Car "Race", at a faster "Pace", to prove "Haste" does not make "Waste", every time, unless, the Concession Stand is Named, "Haste Concession Stand."
The amount of people here criticizing this kid is unbelievable. None of you know what this would feel like and I'm certain you all would do the perfect thing in that one in a million, pretty terrifying event right? Ofcourse you would you are all so perfect. Good job driver, no one got hurt, and that's all that matters in the end.
Critizice. Zitictrioze. Krispoizece. Criticize his Parents, if anybody, for naming him "Chase" and for putting him in a Shitbox Racecar. Them Parents best do what is right and foot "Lanco Speedway"'s Insurance Bill, the remainder of the seeson.
That's a lot of stuff to break at once, dude needs a new mechanic! Great job avoiding stuff too. And thank goodness this was a little 2-stroke car and not one of those motors with wheels the pros drive, that would have been a whole different video!
He did a great job handling it, but no brakes, stuck throttle, and a. broke kill switch just says someone really needed to step up their game on their pre-race mechanical safety checklist.
honestly! what are the chances that ALL 3 of those things happen at once... maybe it was a runaway motor somehow and even the Killswitch didn't do anything, but even the brake line too! wow.
@@Mike_Stanford "Muh killswitch broke!" although he didn't touch it until the end of the video and then it mysteriously "stopped". Nah mate, more like "Ah paniced n forgot to pull muh killswitch!".
@@ThatsMrMaxHeadroomToYou the hell are you talking about? the car stopped because he put it in the perfect slide to make it stop and stall, he still had throttle AFTER he turned that switch. unless i just don't know how kill switches work.
There are many clueless people that have no idea what they're talking about, when commenting on here. Ok first thing first, it's a 2 stroke. Which can be very common to have a "runaway" when started, caused by a very lean situation. Sometimes caused by gasket or seal leak at the intake, cylinder head or base gasket. Similar to a diesel runaway, kill switch won't stop a runaway. So the kill switch could've actually been functioning, but won't work in a case like this. Number 2, a lot of the time there is no clutch, so that's why it's push started. You can shift without a clutch, but it would be very hard to get a car out of gear when it is full throttle/runaway. Number 3, the brakes. The brakes on this car has only 1 caliper and rotor. On the solid rear axle. Not including the fact. Brakes on a micro/mini sprint, midgets or sprint car are not that great to begin with. Brakes on cars mentioned are more to "drive" the car and set the car in the corner, then they are to stop the car. Quickest way to stop a car mentioned is to spin it. Definitely not going to bring the car to a stop when it's full throttle. Even top of the line World Of Outlaw sprint cars only have 2 brake calipers, 1 on the left front and 1 for the rear axle. Number 4, which is also plays into Number 3. All the cars mentioned above, are made to go fast and suck at doing anything else than going fast. They suck to drive pacing/slow speeds, they can be very "squirrelly." Can't see out of the very well. They have tons of bump steer and they plain suck at stopping, even with brand new calipers, rotors, pads, master cylinder etc... Did the kid panic? Yes, a lot of people would. None of you can factually comment on something like this, unless you have been in a situation very similar to this, in a similar type of car. You can say what the kid could've done in hearsay, but before you do that. Ask your self what experience do you have in what you're trying to say the kid should've done. I can bet most of you haven't had something like this happen, with similar type of a car. Which means you have no idea what you're talking about. There's not much else the kid could've done except maybe, put it into the wall which could've hurt him pretty bad. He tried spinning it at first and didn't work, that's about the only way to stall the car without hitting it against a stationary object. Personally I've had similar thing happen to me. With a little bit bigger car and 1000cc Engine, so more power. Had a brand new return spring on the throttle bodies break. Throttle was stuck at full throttle, track conditions was perfect where it was a full throttle track. Had no idea the throttle was stuck, until I tired to let off once the caution came out. First thing I did was hit the brakes, which slowed the car maybe 3-5 mph at max. Not much slowing down when you're doing about 75-80 mph and throttle is stuck wide open. Brand new everything in the brake system and working properly. Luckily i had a clutch in that scenario though where I was able to grab it and come to a stop.
@@Sir_Jake15 He just told you why it would be hard/impossible to get it into neutral. Are you being willfully ignorant or does it just come naturally to you?
@@AvariceAu no you're not understanding what I'm saying. Yes it is harder to pull it out of gear while it's cranking, but he didn't even reach for it, and he could have when he almost came to a stop right before smacking the trailer. It's obvious he had a mental lapse and panicked. Which is totally understandable for a young kid. But if you don't know what to do in these situations, or can't handle it, you shouldn't be on the track yet.
@@Sir_Jake15 You've said clearly what people aren't understanding. It's not about the fact he did the wrong thing in this situation, and should be punished or something. But patting him on the back and saying "good job" is idiotic and dangerous. You don't pat a pilot who crashes his plane and nearly kills several people on the back when there was steps to take that could've minimised the risks, or to get out of the situation entirely. The pilot gets relentlessly grilled and will be lucky if he's ever allowed to look at an aircraft again. And yes, it's an adequate analogy because teenagers as young as the one in this video start to learn to fly, and take on that responsibility. He didn't do a good job, he simply managed not to kill anyone, mostly through a great deal of luck. Putting it into the wall would've been a good job and worth commending. Yes, he almost definitely would've been hurt. But I'd prefer to see the person who chose to get into the car hurt, then a track marshal killed. Just because everyone got out of this situation okay, doesn't mean that it's all alright. The teenager (he's not a kid, he's old enough to start taking responsibility, if he killed someone he'd almost certainly be charged) should've been given a stern grilling for endangering the lives of others, and this video should be used to educate people on what to do in that situation. Again, I cannot overstate this, if a marshal had died he almost certainly would've faced criminal charges. He might not have actually been convicted, but there'd be an investigation and he'd have to face some very serious real world responsibility, and he'd have to live with what happened for the rest of his life. If you cannot appreciate the risks of racing, and the responsibility you have to ensure the safety of other competitors, track staff, and spectators above your own safety, then you should not be on that track yet.
I cant help but relate this to when I was 13 out horseback riding on my own and the horse took off with me on him. Your mind just goes blurry. Kid did a great job.
I had my throttle stuck open once but lucky for me I had the kill switch primed and ready, I honestly wouldn't know wtf to do in that situation, hell of a job keeping everyone and yourself alive
Im sorry mate but I couldn't stop laughing. That was one of the funniest things i have ever seen, credit to you for not hitting anyone or another car!!
Good job driver, ignore all the nonsense that’s one of the scariest feelings in the world. You went home safe and kept it off the people that’s all that matters
Great job man. That was scary I’m sure! Don’t mind the shade tree mechanics and the bleacher racers or uncle Rico’s who know everything and tell ya how to throw it over a mountain! They just hit reset after a hard run on their computers!
Did 3 things break at the same time or was the kill switch broke and jumped, the brakes beat off it last week and you never quite got the pedal back, and then the throttle stuck?
Killswitch on these would interrupt ground to the ignition, so a failure would shut it down. That's why they're called a fail safe. Unless he broke the physical switch itself when he tried to hit it
I mean a bad switch wouldn’t shut it off. I race e-mods, and my switch went bad, didn’t feel off, didn’t break, didn’t come loose, you’d just twist it to off and it wouldn’t shut anything off even tho it was the only connection from the battery to the ignition
The driver did great job for the condition he was in with the car. I've had one hang WFO in my asphalt car but I still had brakes and a kill switch. He did a great job keeping it off of the other cars and keeping his car in one piece.
With a 2 stroke, that looks like a run away lean condition when it starts to suck air through a crank seal and just goes wide open off a hot spot in the cylinder that acts like a glow plug. Kill switch wont stop it. And the brakes either got cooked or just couldn't hold back a wide open engine.
This is most common in diesels... Usually caused by a defect in the turbo intake, causing the engine to feed on itself... When an engine goes full runaway, you can't stop it, even with a "kill switch"...
@@therayven3147 only way to stop it is to block all air from going in and to stop fuel from going in the cylinder. Fuel could be gas, diesel, oil. On some diesel pulling trucks they have a a switch or pull cord that completely closes the air intake to stop a run away
Can you imagine showing up at the track in a bucket as ass broken as that pile of crap was .. NO WAY ..that team had the Ray Charles Maintenance package crew working on that car ...
Hang on, the throttle stuck, the kill switch broke, and the brake line broke all at the same time? I don’t know how to say this gently, but someone is trying to kill you. I can tell you with 38 years experience wrenching that in these cars, that is not a feasible set of circumstances to occur without intent by someone. I’d tried to leave some doubt with a “one in a .....” type of estimate but there isn’t enough zeros to do so....it’s just not possible.
It’s 100% possible you conspiracy theorist. Watched a motor explode once and it took the break line and kill switch didn’t work. Car caught on fire cuz it wouldn’t shut off. So you are dead wrong dude. Just because you think it’s not possible doesn’t mean it isn’t 😂 fool
Very suspect I have raced all types of dirt and asphalt cars and that just doesnt happen all at once maybe one or two two things goes out at once but no brakes is the part that I didn't understand someone was trying to kill him I hope not but dont put it past anyone to do this type of thing these days
is there no oversight to safety in this? i get shit happens but literally every fail safe you have to prevent issues failed simultaneously. does no one check these before a race, or ever?
That was crazy! Just happy nothing bad happened. No one hurt.... Amazing job , to the driver... On getting the car stopped... I've raced there , years ago... Awesome place to race at...
Same thing happened to me on my dirt bike 40 years ago. Throttle stuck and kill switch wouldn't work. I ended up across several RR tracks and into a creek. I rode this bike every day and had no indication anything like that was going to happen. I also raced cars for several years and yes of course all of the above do safety checks. You're lucky Bud. Apparently nothing ever failed on ya.
I had my brakes go out on me in a kart race when i was about 14! Scariest thing ever! It was coming to a caution and didnt know I didnt have brakes until I had to slow up. The flagman threw the flag at me!! All the time i am pointing at my left foot. I had to roll to a stop in the infield grass. The flag man came over and grabbed me by the helmet. My Dad or Uncle pushed that guy so hard his show fell off. That was back in '91 I still remember that feeling like it happened just happened to me. You did good kid and I hope you win your next 20 races.
i probably would have just went for a wall and braced. i wouldnt want to risk losing it and hitting another driver. i know itd suck to have to fix it after spending however much, but id be more concerner with my fellow racers safety and the officials.
Will you teach my woman to drive? Holy hell you did a fantastic job. I noticed you was trying to either brake you tire or trying to find a place to spin the tires till you figured something out. Good job. Btw next time check your shit.
I noticed that the car stalled during the push out. That may have had something to do with it. OR it's a common occurrence and has nothing to do with it... someone let me know.👍🏽
How the hell does the most important 3 components fail at the same time?! Had to be either some horrible pre-race inspecting or a prime example of Murphy’s law haha
Now, I’ve never (yet at least) had something severe as this happen to me, but I’ve had my occasional brake failure. That’s not something you want to experience. Luckily he kept it away (mostly lol) from everyone
3 major malfunctions at once... sounds like sabotage... or a crappy mechanic. kid did a good job keeping it tamed. this is why you always do a "preflight checklist"
