Epic Adventure: Exploring Off-Road Trails in Series 1 Land-Rovers
Every year - in random locations in the North and South Island of New Zealand a group of mates meet to explore the area in pre-1958 Series 1 Land-Rovers.
For 2024 the meeting point was Rangiwahia - a small area in the northern part of the Manawatū and 24 Pre-1958 Series 1 Land-Rover answered the call.
In part two we ingest half the Manawatū on Peep-O-Day Road - visit some large mud balls - get lost (again) - visit a couple of hard working (or hardly working) Series 1s - find the remains of a power station - and walk through the last diversion for the North Island Main Trunk Railway line.

Thanks for the comment. Yes - very please I caught Burt on this video. I do not recall ever capturing him talking on any other video..

Great video. What was that software u used at the end to retrace your steps? Did u run a gps the whole way? I ask this as I belong to a vintage tractor club and we do treks and so forth. I’d like to pinch your idea of how u laid this out. Nice editing and film work. Regards, Sean Littlefair.

Hi Sean - the App. is called 'RELIVE'. This can just be started and run for the day - and any photos you take with your phone will automatically be added to the final video which is automatically generated by the App when you hit STOP. You have to pay for a subscription if you wish to Edit the final video - or have some control over which photos are added. I just use it for a simple 'Worm' trace at the end, so the use is free - but it appears to be popular. Be aware that running the GPS on your phone sucks the power, so advise you add a USB charger to the Tractor as phone generally turn the accuracy down once the phones power drops below about 30% - so the final trace becomes a series of straight lines.
