Wolverine Cabor 8” gets a lot of life. I’ve been using them for 5+ years for Surveying in the South East. They hold up well to hot asphalt and concrete too.
I recently got a pair of 12" 9014 Leather Spring Calk Hoffman boots. They are working good so far but we will see how they hold up to the mountains in a year from now
@@SmithSurveying those are nice boots bro! Curious to how long they hold up over time. I like bottoms of those, I’m sure that helps a lot walking up and down steep inclines. Might have to look into those when I need another pair. The wolverines I have are still holding up going on three years in May. The waterproofing is still holding up too. I can’t believe they’ve lasted this long.
@@bradbagwell3306 Sounds like you got a good pair! The calks are a necessity in Oregon. You'll spend more time sliding down and slipping on logs than you would hiking up without them 😂
I just got a pair of rubber boots from Walmart to wear into wet areas, and I had to cut away a reinforced rim because it was rubbing the skin off my leg below my knees. Now they are okay.
I'm glad you got your boots fixed. When I was in college I worked an irrigation job. The end plug was stuck in an irrigation pipe so I kicked it to get the plug out and ended up getting a giant hole in my boot. I had to work the rest of the day with a wet foot 😆
got any jacket or glove recommendations? I'm a freshman for a surveying degree and I thought I was used to the cold in upstate NY but standing out there for hours handling metal is pretty rough lol
I don't have a particular go to when it comes to gloves. I like the snow gloves that Costco sells because they are reasonably priced and keep my hands warm. They also sell hand warmers that I put in my gloves for the extra cold days. I like to wear fleece pullovers underneath my waterproof winter jacket. I forgot the brand of the jacket, but I will let you know when I get back home in a couple days. Do you have a survey vest yet?
