But you dont have to use tesco or have a car wash. But you are forced to spend well over 1/2 your wages just to not be homeless.

@@ProgressiveProperty our wages have been reduced a lot. But it's hard not to think wages have stayed the same and everything else has gone up. Inflation is a very good way of tricking us.

@@chrishart8548 We're hearing the term 'shrinkflation' being thrown around a lot too recently; it's certainly a tough time to be a UK citizen compared to other periods. We're expecting to see changes and more truths come out after the election. What about you, Chris?

how would people eat then? If not Tesco any other shop and your TV subscription/licence, clothes. Every business makes a profit or there wouldnt be business therefore products for people

Building isnt expensive. Our money is just worthless. And if a normal house wasn't 13x salary now people could still buy homes.

It's true - especially for solo buyers purchasing property through the traditional route can be difficult! In Feb24 Gov.UK stated that the average house price was £281k, and Forbes in March24 stated the average salary is around £35k... that's approx 8 times a single persons salary! Most if not all my tenants couldn’t get a mortgage and some don’t want to buy, so where would they live, I treat my tenants well, I class some as friends and it works better like that, I have never had to evict anybody ever,I’m dreading a hung parliment because a lib lab pact would be a disaster for landlords the Libs hate landlords we don’t want them anywhere near power,

Exactly! There will always be a demand for rental properties and therefore a demand for landlords.

"Landlords stopping people getting on the property ladder" Is a popular misconception. Roughly 80 % of uk homes are owner occupied. Out of the less than 20% that are rented out over 80% are ownd by landlords with 2 properties if you include their home. So the landlords with larger portfolios (10+) make up an infinitesimally small proportion of property owners. And they tend to own stuff that first time buyers generally dont want anyway. Its a myth
