During the 1960s, Nicolás Guillén Landrián (1938-2003) emerged as Cuba’s pioneering black filmmaker, marking a significant cultural shift. However, his unique cinematic approach and personal identity collided with the Cuban Revolution authorities, leading to censorship, imprisonment, and psychiatric confinement. Eventually seeking refuge in Miami, Landrián's life came to a close in 2003. In 2019, it came to Ernesto Daranas Serrano attention that the original Landrián’s films were in jeopardy of permanent loss due to neglect. Initiating a restoration project, Ernesto endeavored to salvage these invaluable cinematic treasures. Through this film, Ernesto’s aspiration is to reintroduce Landrián’s groundbreaking films to contemporary audiences, shedding light on his visionary contributions, while denouncing the injustices he endured.
