Landroid L Mowing Tall Grass in 4k

My very first mow with my Landroid L. In order to test out what it would do I intentionally did not cut the grass first (ignoring the instructions) and left it over nine inches tall, just to see what it would do.

I'm on the last stage of installing the parameter wire, I may finish tomorrow but with work and other crap to do after work I'm not sure. Then I have to go through an edge test to see if I need to move any wire around. And after that, I'm done. I did run what wire I have left to install back to the base just to see what the mower would do. I was shocked at how quiet it was. I wondered if the blades were spinning. Then I remembered it was just blades on a disk. It's not going to make a lot of noise. I'm pretty confident that I made the right choice. Now to show the wife that it can live up to the hype. Because for some reason she doesn't believe that a device with a disk full of razorblades can cut grass.

Yeah definitely not getting one. Any robotic mower for that matter. I’m sure it’ll be bigger in the future but not well developed enough yet. There small, extremely expensive, low mowing capabilities, and inaccurate/ seem very random for going around 1,000$+. In my opinion I think if they could just aim there focus at the technology and AI aspect of it, and really put a lot of effort and time into developing a better system. There’s benefits but for me the negatives outweigh the pros. If it was more reliable at cutting I would deffinitly get one. Was planning on getting a robotic mower for my parents last Christmas but I seen the same problem, and quite frankly after many months later still no technology outbreaks. I’m not targeting the product and saying it’s bad, I just personally don’t think it’s there yet and that’s okay, it’s a great start and I can’t imagine what it can do 10 years from now, hell 5 years from now even I’m sure they’ll be a lot better systems and more improvements!

Right now they're really not any different than early robot vacuum cleaners in that they have an extremely minimal understanding of navigation and layout of the yard. Ultimately though they get the whole yard mowed to the same height within even the first afternoon, and with regular use, the yard always looks immaculate. The process of it looking perfect is immediate if you actually follow the instructions and mow the yard manually first (I deliberately didn't follow the instructions). If you're extremely OCD and can't stand seeing the robot not mow the lawn the way you would mow it as a human being, then it's not for you, but the idea is to just let it do its thing on a regular basis and have a beautiful looking lawn with little to no ongoing effort beyond initial setup and the occasional glitch.

Curious as to longevity. At 2000., not something I want to replace every 3 to 4 years. Are major components replaceable? Your thoughts on this?

Thanks for the video! Few questions... 1. So does this mean it has no problems on taller grass? 2. just got one for my mother, but upon testing a small area,, I couldn't get it to start mowing. I didn't understand the setup process. 3. I heard it was about $400 to have the wiring professionally installed, but do you think it's worth it to have it professionally done, or is it something I can do myself with no problems?

Worx robotmower is not good. Front to low. Mower digs into the ground and stops. Do not buy a Worx.

Dear Canadian Droid, I'm curious about it cuts to the edge, and how is the performance so far? could you add an update video of these points? would be really appreciated
@canadiandroid7902
@canadiandroid7902 4 года назад
The cut to edge performance is pretty good, but you will still have to trim the edges. Good idea for a further video... I'll see if I can do one up before the snow flies.

Cut to edge is really nice. The trick is to tune the wire placement, and make the robot able to come really close to the edges. When another surface is at the same level, the robot can cut 100% of the edges. If there is like a wall, you will stille have to cut like 4-6 centimeters, and like 6-10 with no cut to edge. The factory put in standart measures, but i found that i could take away 4 and 6 centimeter from both measures :-)

@@danandersen7983 I have bought the L1000 in the mean time, like it really much. I have installed a 5Ah battery and hope to mow 1400m2 over 2 zones. I hope I manage, but currently not easy, I get the feeling I have too many obstacles. but lets wait for the season to develloppe. I agree with you, I have a fence on part of the boundary, and this mows leaving 4 cm. to my pavement, It cuts nicely full ove rthe edge. When I started I had setup a trial perimeter wire, with this I tried several widths against the fence, also having a slope. THanks for your reply btw

I have a choice between a Note 21 cell phone and this we 150. Zero dollars for 1 of them. I'm leaning towards the mower. A phone, well my Note 8 is good enough for a few years. Can you do 2 zones. I want to add my front yard only when I am watching it. Someone might drive by and steal it.
@canadiandroid7902
@canadiandroid7902 3 года назад
You can have multiple zones, yes. Really this is just to tell it a certain point along the boundary wire to consider the start and end of each zone. You can allocate the mowing time as a percentage between the various zones. This does not mean however that it won't cross those zones as it definitely has to follow the wire all the way along to get back to the base station, but you can minimize the time spent in the zones that you prefer it avoid as much as possible.

Looks like you could have put on a lower cutting height. I do even with thick St Augustine Texas grass. Does just fine.

I left it long because at the time we were experiencing a heat wave/drought. I've since put it to the lowest setting once the grass was healthier.

Update: This spring after I took it out of storage, I had grass of even longer height than in this video, and left the height setting on the Landroid at the shortest cutting height. It struggled in places but it managed, and over the course of the afternoon it eventually got the entire lawn done and looking pristine.

Does anyone know if this thing can cut on a ditch or incline?
@canadiandroid7902
@canadiandroid7902 3 года назад
The setup guide says: "Your Landroid®L has the ability to safely climb slopes up to 35% (20°), so just avoid anything steeper than this. The Upper Boundary Wire should NOT be placed on slopes steeper than 35% (20°)."

@NonyaBusiness! You'll also pay just as much for a riding mower... and still have to drive it yourself. If I'm going to pay that money, I'd rather one that drives itself. It's really the same argument as buying a robot vacuum cleaner vs buying a good manual vacuum cleaner.

Hoping you are having fun with your droid! I have the M model and it's great apart from a few stupid navigation issues. I have grapevines and am using both the ACS and the magnetic no-go sensors to avoid it constantly hitting the vines or supporting trellis. It seems to have a silly error in firmware 3.16 which may amuse you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZfwFSB_z9Ls.html

all the videos i see shows them doing random swaths. im suprised with how much they are, they dont have a better system that does straight paths and not diagonally randomly.

If you want stripes you have to do it manually. If a robot mower did that then over time the wheels would cut into the turf. They cover 100%, and after a couple of weeks the lawn looks good, and stays that way, but you just can't have stripes.
