I love watching you work, to me you are a true photographer who knows every bit of his kit inside out. You're not about the newest best camera, but getting the best out of your camera which gives you amazing images. I genuinely wish you all the best with all the projects you have in the pipeline. Another amazing video with amazing images.

Thanks Mark!!! That is very very kind of you to say. When it comes to kit and travel I have to make a choice. Yes, I could buy new kit all the time but then it would mean I couldn't get out there creating images. Right now that choice is travel as I need to constantly create new work. Hopefully new kit will be added at some point as I have my eye on the 100-400mm Mark II.

Julian thank you for sharing your Lavender Fields in Provence. It was just what I was looking for right now as lavender is in full bloom in the area of Canada I am situated. Making plans to photo lavender in field for tomorrow. I particularly enjoyed the sunset field you captured.

Thanks Linde! I didn't know you had lavender fields over in Canada! Where are they? Over in France they are spread out over different areas of Provence and you get various backgrounds and different types of fields.

Inspirational work as ever Julian; so impressed with the high quality work you produce in all your videos. It is great to get an insight into what it takes to achieve such outstanding results.

Thanks Robert! Well, I have to produce good quality work as being represented by Getty you need to be pursuing the best you can. When you look around at some people there is too much of a "it'll do" attitude or they will change skies and stuff. I walked away from a few things in Provence because it simply wasn't right to be taking an image at that point.

Hi Julien, I can`t believe you don`t know the name of the lake you mention here, it is Lac de Sainte-Croix and is man made although I do expect you know all this by now. Nice video and your photos too. Do visit the Gorge du Verdon which is 13 ish klm away from the lake (Head to La Palud sur Verdon) Spectacular views and scenery for you and photos. Hi @Graham Elliott! You have to remember, it was my first time back down there in about 5 years. I was finding my way around again. And good to see you posting :)

No problems Martin. It can be tricky getting the timings right as if the lavender is ahead of itself in terms of flowering then you can get there and find they've harvested it all! That seems to be the case this year and they have already started.

Got a question for you...what's your method for deciding which photos go to what agency among those that require exclusivity?
@JulianElliottPhotography
@JulianElliottPhotography 7 лет назад
It very much depends on the photo taken. If I get something which is unique and unrepeatable then it's Getty hands down. Why? Because they have the client base for that material. Outside of that it comes down to other factors such as if there is a sole property in it; castle etc then it becomes a choice between all of them.

do you find the 1.4 to be OK quality wise have you compared it to a crop
@JulianElliottPhotography
@JulianElliottPhotography 7 лет назад
Hi Gerard. Honestly, no because I tend to do things in camera as much as possible. At times the 24mm tilt shift or 70-200mm isn't quite long enough and so the extender gives me a little more reach as when required. When it comes to cropping I rarely do it and it's 99% done with panoramic images.
