As a landscape photographer, I never realized how useful a telephoto lens could be until I owned one. I've owned a 70-300mm for quite some time, and it quickly became my favorite landscape lens. The way you can isolate a single subject, reduce clutter, and focus on what really matters makes the telephoto lens an excellent tool for those days that offer less-than-ideal conditions for photography.
Prior to this trip, I picked up a new telephoto. This time, it was the 150-600mm. I had one particular shot in mind but ended up using the lens the whole trip to create some fantastic images. In this video, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at my image creation journey, as well as get a ton of tips, tricks, and on-location advice.

I enjoy your talks/showing us so much. I also have fun seeing some close ups of landscape features which would be too difficult to bodily move closer to. I just got a Sony 70-350mm which with crop factor 1.5 on my A6000 it's reach is 525 full-frame equivalent. Similar to your long lens. 🙂

Thank you for taking your time and explain your composition, lighting, contrast. It takes a lot of effort to carry a second tripod to film.

As you mentioned, a tripod needs to be positioned securely. You faced windy conditions that could induce motion. As a chuckle: I once positioned my tripod in a stream, legs on rocks. Although it wasn't windy there, I forgot to factor in the vibration of the water! Lesson learned.
