This landscape photography location is also certainly no candidate for my off the beaten track series! I will be getting back to that soon, but for now I'm at the ever popular lighthouse locations on Anglesey at South Stack & Penmon.
I also do my best to capture some images which are slightly unusual for these very heavily photographed locations.
This is also the shoot for my entry in the August 2018 "Clouds" challenge for the Facebook group "Landscape Photography on RU-vid UK": / landscapephotographyon...

My budget equipment ...
Camera: Nikon D5500
Lenses: Nikkor 18 - 200mm, Tokina 11 - 16mm ATX Pro
Filmed on Hawkeye Firefly 8S, with external lavalier mic and DJI Spark drone.

Thanks Edward. Yes, after many previous attempts producing pretty standard results, I was quite pleased with this one. Now I just need a decent South Stack image to complete my set of Anglesey lighthouses 😊

Bugger off with the hair :) I did have a hat but even clamped down as tight as I could get it, it still blew off several times 😀😀😀

Cheers Mali. The main problem turned out to be the hair blue cast (crappy vlog cam white balance) making me look like Mrs Slocombe! 😀😄

D Griff Gallery David, I am trying to put together a visit to Anglesey in early September. I would jump at the chance to meet up. If nothing else I’m sure you could help me to tighten up my itinerary so that I can make the most of my time. I’m sure all of the answers are in among your videos. Thanks a lot Darren. It was almost entirely down to being local and being able to pick the exact time for tide, weather and time of day. If you're ever thinking of visiting in the motorhome let me know and I'll be able to hook up and help you out 👍

Love the Penmon shot. It's on my hit list lol. I've had 2 attempts at South Stack, 1st one failed completely and the second one was a 'close but not close enough' Next time! It will happen the next time! lol

I’ve been once to South Stack. I remember perching on the same edge, holding my breath and being constantly reminded by myself of my fear of heights. That last location at Penmon looked an excellent spot for breakfast and the shot was spot on. Very well composed indeed, lovely colours. I wish I had your hair problem. Nice work David 👍👍

First thing first, if I have hair like you do I am No 1 between handsomeness people in the state of Colorado, for real!!!! You chose great location as always, cant go wrong with the seascape. The clouds and peaking light rays worked for you pretty well, like the shot! Morning outing was absolutely stunning.

Thanks Verdon. It was pure luck that the exact conditions I'd been waiting for happened in time for the 2nd location to balance out the 1st! 😀otherwise the vlog would probably have been abandoned!

That was very interesting in that my father in laws father was a pilot for the Bristol Channel and lived in Pill which is close to the Avonmouth Port and they were in the days of rowing boats to get to the ships coming to port and out. We now live near Sharpness where we watch ships being Piloted up the Severn River all the way from just off Barry where they pick up there pilots.

I have to admit of not being a fan of South Stack if I am honest but I think the images you came away with were worthy of comp entries David... and have to say I was chuckling seeing you have a "flyaway" hair moment..lol Now the Penmon shot - was a corker and when I saw it earlier today I was looking forward to the vlog.. only to find it was an add-on to your Sth Stack edition. Still, that one image was a corker - and could see the satisfied face of a photographer who had enjoyed taking that one image - basking in your success, well done ;)

Thanks a lot Alan. Yeah the South Stack vlog would have been a total bust without the added bonus of Penmon. It's a common thing with a lot of the well known locations that there are very limited perspectives available. So I guess it always comes down to the light and weather conditions.

Hi Jon, It's a Rode lav mic, but I can't recall if I was running it into my phone or directly to camera back then! These days I couple it with the Rode Wireless Go system. That gives me excellent flexibility in terms of not having to be wired up to a device, but I can record audio directly onto any camera without needing to sync in post. The output quality is excellent, and performs extremely well, When coupled with a wind muff, in the sorts of conditions in which I often find myself. @@DGriffGallery Thank you David, that was doing a great job considering how windy it was. I have a RODE but it don't cope with the wind as well as that, I think I need to get a wind deflector to go on it maybe
