I am also a fun of super telephoto lenses for landscapes, in fact the more use them the more I like the result. It is very difficult to get pin sharp shots though, nothing to do with the lens or camera movement, it is just the humidity in the atmosphere that affects sharpness. But this gives you a nice effect though under most of the conditions. Thanks for sharing!!

By using this special long lens in landscape photpgraphy I come to realize its different aspect of photography..beauty it's not always to be very sharp and clear of your subject but the effect or amount of light of your landscape sometimes it looks washout but that's where the beauty is..the way nature evolved god create them in his purpose to sustain this magnificent world and we must be thankful ..
Hi Martin, definitely - the lens itself is as sharp as my GM lenses, but with distances above ~6km it gets tricky for some reasons. It really leads into an own style what I really like, but it is quite difficult to get everything sturdy for a sharp shot. Du hast wirklich schöne Foto gemacht. Niederösterreich ist wirklich schön. Gewöhnlicherweise denkt man immer "Die Wachau im Frühling" aber es gibt Stifte und Klöster, Flüsse, Wälder, die Ausläufer der Alpen, usw. Das Fotografieren im Land ist immer interessant. Das hast du auch sehr gut demonstriert!

Das mit den verschwommen Bildern bei hohen Brennweiten kann ich voll bestätigen. Bei meinem Sigma 100-400 ist da der Silent mode Pflicht. Für Deine aktuelle Situation eine coole Idee LG Klaus 👍👍👍

Auf Minolta hatte ich früher zur Analogzeiten ebenfalls ein 100-400, aber sowas wie Silent Shutter oder Stabilisator gab's da natürlich noch nicht :) Da ist es echt cool, welche Möglichkeiten uns die Technik von heute so bietet. Very nice photos with awesome layering straight from the parking spot. Makes one envious of having such a beautiful non-flat landscape in reach. The f-stop number is the ratio of the diameter of the effective aperture opening divided by the focal length. Thus, with the aperture (as in the mechanism constructed of hose blades) being mechanically able to close down to a small hole of a certain diameter, the longer the lens the smaller the fraction which the f-stop is, will be. E.g. take a fixed aperture that is 10 mm and stick in into a 200mm and 400mm lens, ignoring the "effective" part, youd have f-stop numbers of f/20 for 200mm but f/40 for the 400mm. And 10 mm is a quite big opening. That is why telephoto lenses tend to go "up" what in practice are useless f-stop numbers. Unlike you seem to keep/kept thinking, the main deal with GM vs G lenses is not the resolution/sharpness. Take the sharpest lens in the Sony lineup, the 90 mm macro. It is a G lens and that does not make it bad in any way. The GM lenses always have the wider aperture (which *may* result in the sharpest aperture being more open as well), effort put into the bokeh (like with more and rounded aperture blades and other design decisions to make sure it is pleasing). They typically also get the faster autofocus motors (e.g. 3 or 4 linear ones) and the latest coatings. The latter is going to be interesting when at some point "mark II" (or however Sony is going to call them) versions of older G lenses are going to be released. So far it just happened that with the expection of the 12-24 GM all the newer Sony lens releases that could benefit from the technological advances in that area were GM primes. CAs do not seem to be part of the game, though wihle the coatings of course help, there is examples like the fairly recent 35mm GM which suffers badly from them, while the older 24mm GM as well as the recent 50mm GM do not. In the end it comes down to the particular lens design chosen and which challenges that design used for the given focal length (range) poses and what compromises correcting a certain aberration imposes on others.
Hi Elho, oh yes - it was such a fun shooting out there in Lower Austria :) Thank you for you addendum according to GM/G lenses of Sony. I know - the main reason for GM is that they are faster - or that a lower aperture number is possible. But I think, with GM - due to the price - we anyway expect to get quite sharp lenses with quite "no" corner softness and usability high up to big aperture numbers. However - the 200-600G offers a fantastic performance. I just wanted to upvalue the 200-600 a bit with my thoughts :) Have a great weekend and nice greetings, Christian
@@christian.irmler Yeah, you gonna expect, if not demand, high optical quality from a GM lens, but there is quite some G ones that deliver that just as well. While e.g. with Canon you do get "L" designated f/4 zooms, they have quite a few L lenses and they are not equally good either. Its really best to just not go by the labels at all but consider any lens option unbiased and go by what it can really do.

Servus Christian! Tolles Video und passt auch perfekt, da ich grad hart am überlegen bin, mir auch das 200-600 zu holen. Das mit den Panoramas ist ein cooler Tipp und stimmt bei mir auch total. Ich mach wenns die Situation verlangt auch einfach ein Panorama und such mir den besten Ausschnitt raus. Die Technik erlaubt das ja mittlerweile sehr gut.
Hallo Marco, was für eine nette Überaschung dich hier in den Kommentaren zu sehen :) Also ich kann dir das 200-600 echt empfehlen. Wie schon gesagt in den oberen Blenden (bis 400mm ab f16 und bei 600mm ab f20) wird die Beugungsunschärfe recht groß, aber sonst ist das wirklich ein gestochen scharfes Objektiv von der kleinsten Blendenstufe weg, selbst an den Ecken. Schneller Autofokus, verglichen mit den GM Objektiven vielleicht ein klein wenig mehr CA, aber immer noch sehr wenig. Gib einfach Bescheid, falls du sonst noch irgendwas wissen willst für eine Kaufentscheidung. Schau auf jeden Fall was Du brauchst und was passt. Das 200-600 mm ist sehr gut und passt wenn man dadrunter ein 70-200 hat (und bereit ist dann 2 Teles zu schleppen). Das 100-400 GM ist aber z.B. auch sehr sehr gut und passt perfekt um ein 24-105 zu ergänzen. Dank A7R IV nutze ich in Sachen Panoramas die Technik eher umgekehrt - unter Zeitdruck dann einfach nur eine weitwinkligere Aufnahme, die dann immernoch zu einem Panorama beschnitten werden kann, bei dem auch mit Objekten im Vordergrund niemand die vermeintlichen Schnittstellen wird finden können. ;)
@@elho001 Ich brauch genau das 200 - 600. Ich hab schon ein 16-35, 20-70, 50er und ein 70-200er. Jetzt brauch ich für das Supertele das 200-600. Ich hab so viele Situationen wo das 200er um die Spur nicht ausreicht. Hab mir das Objektiv diese Woche zu einem guten Preis bestellt und kanns kaum erwarten, dass es ankommt.
Hi Jerry, I could do this - if I were rich and wealthy :) What I have learnt is, that the best way to improve photography is to work with that what you have. Don't buy a new lens, use the gear you have already - even a phone is absolutely enough to become a good photographer.
