I'm doing 3.5 tons myself but smaller river rock. Easier to handle. All I know is I don't have any problem falling asleep after doing many rounds with that rock.
I’ve been there right with ya 😌. Amazing to look at the completed project knowing that you physically touched almost every single rock ! Looks really nice !
Instead of trying to dig the shovel into the middle of the pile, start at the edge of the pile with your shovel flat against the driveway so there aren’t any rocks underneath your shovel, just the flat surface of the driveway. Much less friction that way and allows you to get a shovel full each time :)
Hi new subscriber 👋 I did this all along my fence line and front yard" after giving the design area's a week of settling down, where I wanted the rock's to be, I went back in with several can's of clear coat" over the rock's to give them that wet look, turned out really nice!👍🥰
I ordered some 3-4" cobble rocks (3 yards) in September of 2020, not long after this video was made. Unfortunately, the rocks I received included a *large* amount of clay mixed in. Not the kind of stuff you can just easily rinse out. I spent weeks trying to wash the rocks, only managing to fully wash 1 yard of it. Please learn from my lesson and ensure you're getting relatively clean cobble. Large piles of clay mixed in will ruin a project like this.
I wish when y'all do these type of video's you would share the cost . I know times changes , prices changes but it would be interesting to see the cost of rock versus mulch.
Just curious about if the dumping on the bare cement like that caused any kind of issues at all as far as chipping or colored mineral transference etc? Job looks great tho!
I love it!!! How would grass n weeds be cleared once they start growing through the rocks? Not knowing the answer is the only reason I hesitate to do something like this. It is absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing
I hope you used landscape fabric and not a tarp like you said a couple of times. Water should be able to pass through it but not weeds. Tarps don't let water through.
Awesome, this are the exact kind of rocks I want, now I know what to ask for, I also know it’s going to be absolutely dreadful cos a shovel won’t work... So is that lawn fabric or something else and how much rock did you buy cos I need to this around the perimeter of my place, thx, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Very expensive up front, but in the long run it saves a lot of money on mulching every year. Plus saves time from all the work you never have to do! Looks really good against your brick, orangeish red is hard to match up with. Looks like your helper had a lot of fun helping and those are great memories to make
I LOVE your genuine appreciation for the Rocks, themselves! A lot of videos miss sharing this aspect of the Landscaping process-or ANY interaction, for that matter-with Rocks. … you have that passion that unites Rock Lovers everywhere; a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of ROCKS. Believe me, I get it. #iloverocks 🍃💛🍃
In this area they are called river rocks but the delivery guy for one load said they are mined in any gravel pit and just size sorted by machines...they are found anywhere in the ground....we add more color to the top each year by bringing home white ones or special colored ones from trips to the ocean....looks beautiful and is timeless.
Looks great and a perfect choice for the beds against the house. The plastic landscape fabric with river rock on top is great to divert water away from the house's foundation with very little rain water soaking down into the soil around the house.
I want to do this at our home in southeast Georgia. I'm being told that putting landscaping rocks makes the plant bed too 🔥 hot it could burn up the plants. Is that true?
Surprised he didn’t mention removing 3-6inch of soil prior to, instead of adding straight on top. Thought that was common practice, would give property more water retainage/storage during big rain event
I did this recently. Did 1 layer of heavy duty 4mill landscaping plastic tarp, then 2 layers (folded) of your everyday landscape fabric. No fuckin weeds better come through those rocks hahahah
Great job but you made two small mistakes you don't have a gorilla cart 1200.payload and you should had part of the load dropped off near the second bed.
Shoveling this type of rock is a nightmare...There really is no two ways around it. I've tried all of the tricks and none of them really help that much.
