1.73 after Landstar takes their cut is 1.03. rule of thumb look at the load and the rate and take 70 cents off. That's what you're running for. An old timer there taught me that. Quick math so you don't waste time

Landstsr have alot of agents posting same load and each one for less and good luck call the one pays better they say nor avaliable because they know you will call for the same one pays shit. . And landstar do not do ahit about and even they sometimes don't pay what the freight bill. FCWP I believe is your worker comp plan, I have mine through an outside insurer. The LCN is your load alert charge & the Trk Scan is from sending in your paperwork. Every time you send a load in they charge $2.00. The Omitrac charge is for you buying the unit. Once it’s paid for, somewhere around $800 I believe that charge will disappear.

Alright. I’ve watched you suffer enough. I don’t usually tell people what they need to do, but you need to move on to flat bedding. Dry van & reefer are dead markets, too many people pull that freight especially all the foreigners. Landstar has decent flatbed, oversized and I believe heavy haul loads. They have a securment class (I believe in Texas) they offer to get you prepared, I would take advantage of it. From there you can progress to more specialized freight. I’ve never pulled for Landstar, but I’m a leased on O/O and do well with that and I’ve had peaks at their loadboard. If you want to do well consistently you need to move on or your weeks will be hit or miss. Wish you all the best ✌️

Landstar needs a LOT of improvement. Spent 5 years there and the percentage needs to be adjusted. Difficult to be successful without having direct freight. The load board is full of the same posts by foreign agents. Agents never get punished for misinformation but the driver gets a load cancelled and rarely get reimbursed TONU. Too much micromanaging. I can see why there is an AB5 law. You’re almost on an employee basis. They can cut your fuel card which is insane or put you on hold and you get NO loads. Call in and you will be on hold forever for almost any dept. We were blessed to find a customer we pulled for, got our own authority and run the freight with none of the BS. We spent HOURS on the load board calling about loads that were mostly ‘covered’ or they would post a rate and tell you it was less when you called. Good luck to you, find some direct freight with an agent and hopefully a good lane ☀️
@johnnichols6267
@johnnichols6267 4 месяца назад
I dont understand how they could tell you rates could not be negotiable..landstar is a logistics company that uses agents or brokers whatever you want to call them to sell there loads to you or contractors of transportation companies. THEY ARE NEGOTIABLE .. the company i work for is an authorized carrier for landstar and i can tell you for a fact they negotiate..if you cant negotiate than you might as well consider yourself a company drive that just choose your own loads and time off..next i think. You need to build relationships with agents to get good loads before they hit the load board like an o/o would with its own shipper and maybe yes maybe then use a load board to get home or back to a customers shipment

So you waiting till the day of to find loads is a mistake. Need to be pre-booking loads. You in the wrong lanes. Midwest is where you need to stay. Stack your week with some buffer in between. Will stop you from taking low rate loads. If you don’t understand the fees need to talk to your payroll rep so you understand. Also, do you know your CPM cost to operate? Also, learn to do your own maintenance, will save you a lot in the long run.

West of I 35 is a tough market. Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are usually pretty steady to pull out of. Find a rail freight hub near you, and you'll do well pulling out of that city or nearby. Also, concentrate on direct shipper loads only. They pay much better. Find an agent to dispatch you. You'll learn freight lanes that way.

I saw the video wen he left knight. He sead he was on duty 142 days in a year .but had 52 weeks of pay.so how did he do this.well 142days is not even 6 months.he wasn't making any money.well I lease a truck at knight for 5 years .retired may 2020 with 35 years over the road and 3.8 million miles. My pay was from $2100 to $ 2600 a week.snd staid out 4 weeks. Home for 2 days then back again. I don't know what's going on out thete but don't look like he puts enough time in on the road
