The gods are not always with us. They come and go throughout our lives as we need them, and they need us. One constant in our lives can be the nature we are surrounded by.
This is something that our ancestors realized in pre-christian Scandinavia. There are many stories about people giving offerings to waterfalls, and sacred groves to help with the day to day problems that challenge us all.
In this video, I visit and land spirit that I know in my state, I show you an offering that I give. Along with some readings from Myths and Symbols in Pagan Europe.
I hope you enjoy my journey through the woods, and the stories I have to share!

Very happy I found this chanel, I've always felt a pull towards Norse Paganism I've always studied it on my own time but within the last couple of months I've really decided to study the religion aspect of it I've always believed in something but couldn't figure out what it was. I think I finally found it and your channel has made it so much easier.

I’m just recently coming across the concept of Landvaettir. My family has always had a deep connection to nature and I believe that to be in part to the origins of my name.

I believe in the Faeries and all Nature Spirits. I have seen them with my own eyes. I love that you made this video. Over the last few years, there has been a resurgence of people connecting with the Fae and Nature Spirits. People are seeing that they are approachable and able to work with them on a daily bases to connect with the land and they are not these evil little beings that many tried to make them out to be.

A thing about balance is that, if you're thinking about those old-timey "libra" scales, what really makes them work is a strong central pillar. It's he steadiness of the pillar that makes judgement possible. The gods are much the same, they are (IMO) standards to which we can return to weigh the balance of our light and dark, sorrow and joy, rage and humor.

Onet thing that made me belive in some kind of natural spyrits is not only wierd experiences I had, but also mountains. The second you stop respecting them or say something unrespectful, say that this road is to easy etc,a shitty thing happends with you, so you better respect mountains, I have always found that it worked, in a wierd way. It is not even that you should be cautious, but if you are not respectful, it will always get back on you.

The idea of everything being from the dead giant is interesting, considering everything on not just our own planet, but everything in our solar system is formed from the same nebula. We’re made of the same stardust as our sun, as the water, and as the earth.

Hey mate ,if you ever come to Australia you will experience land wights alot ,they are very common as you know this country has only been attempted to be christianised for 230 years. The priests did not have the time to scare ,run them off or hurt them Obviously first peoples of this country call them something different and have their own ways of honouring them or avoiding them ,but they are what we call land wights. I have found they are usually happy to be honoured in our way if you let them know that you respect them , but are unable to find out how first indigenous people honoured them.-if that's the case. Land wights are just that.Tied to the land .And just as the first settlers found wights in Iceland we the ancestors of Anglo-Saxon settlers find them in our respective countries,U.S. or Oz.Good health and luck to you !!

This right here is what brought me to Finnish Paganism. I know Finnish Paganism isn't particularly connected to Norse Paganism historically (although if you look at the pantheon you will see a lot of similarities) but I would recommend having a look into it. For me Finnish Paganism is the nature spirit equivalent of Norse Paganism. It's the paganism that would have been had the Norse not been a Waring Slaving and generally brutal society. It's really cool as well because like the Norse pagans of Norway, Sweden and Iceland, the Finnish pagans are slowly coming back and have been recognized as an official religion by the Finnish Government (Karhu Kansa). But yeah, if you're open to bringing more spirits into your life, I would highly recommend the Finnish faith too. (Sorry that was a bit off topic there, nature spirits always bring me back to this subject lol). Skal.

So question about how to connect find a suitable place where I live. I live in between alot of farms, beaches and the sea is 5 min away. But these are all really small beaches and man made, 1 tiny forest and There is 1 place for birds where I havent gone to yet since it seemed that I am not allowed to enter not sure tho. These are the options for me how can i find balance or spirits here? Ussually I feel them around but the only time I feel something here is at night before the sun goes down. Any ideas? Because I don't think/feel like I should go even further like say an hour or two from where I live. (because I kinda feel like that wouldn't really be local anymore) and just to add a small detail, I didnt really ask for it directly but I have this strong feeling that after I made a huge wooded statue of Njord for a norse group, and to give Njord something too. that this might be the reason why I ended up here between farms, and ALOT of beaches, sea and water since I got the chance to move here almost right after this event. Wich is a big + for me because I love water also my out of the box head felt like maybe to connect/place offerings underwater. Other ideas are welcome❤️🌊

Try northern Arizona. The native spirits of the Hopi and Navajo are what we heathens may consider land vaettir.

I live in southern AZ and I can assure you there are plenty of land spirits around. I know out here is about as opposite as you can get from Scandinavian type nature and it seems easy to get disconnected. But making the effort is worth it and not as difficult as it may seem.

Every area has its own spirits. Maybe Norse land spirits are drawn to places like Scandinavia or places where Vikings settled.

This is all very interesting, but what do you make of pagans/heathens performing human sacrifice? Animal sacrifice? I think we strongly tend to look back at these times with rose tinted glasses and ignore the atrocities and misery these cultures wreaked upon themselves and especially others.

I had a Native guy suggest that I leave tobacco offerings in places where their ancestors were that I love to visit, in order to pay my respects--glyphs, rock paintings, ruins, etc. I try not to copy Native practices directly because I don't want to be *that* white guy, so I do it my own way, but tobacco is a good offering. You can buy pipe tobacco or leaves and wrap it in a biodegradable fabric like burlap and tie the bundle with hemp string.
