Considering how few people can be trusted to stay in their lane , the idea of(straddling) going between them you need not wear a helmet, you have nothing to lose.
There is always a risk that drivers in cars make sudden lane changes. So you always have to drive carefully and think that there are always idiots in traffic. It helps with a good strong light on the motorcycle even during the day. :-)
