Do you learn the basics first or do you go on italki to learn it from scratch ? Isn't it better to know some basics? And do you learn pronunciation and writing/reading or only pronunciation?

I just started on italki and learned Jamaican from scratch with the teacher. After a couple of lessons I'm able to have a short conversation now with a native speaker. I posted a video on my channel with my progress. Which language do you want to learn?

I'm bilingual since birth (English is my 3rd language) coming from a mixed family, born in another country. I met my best friend, now husband, at age six.He took a great interest in learning my 'other' language so we can speak in secret when we are with friends. 15 years later, he speaks that language better than a native speaker. I don't know why i'm saying this here, I guess I'm just proud of him. Learning a new language DOES open many doors.

Would you recommend me learn Vietnamese or thai first? I speak fluently chinese and english , some spanish, french and german

I would recommend you to learn Thai first, because it has 5 tones which are closer to the tones of Mandarin. Vietnamese has 6 tones and they are completely different than the Vietnamese tones. You can check out the link below the video if you are interested in an italki teacher.
