Luca, you are an astounding polyglot.

I've found that many people say "I'm just not built to learn languages" while on the verge of giving up. I think that it's simply because in school with apps/websites people are only exposed to a passive-style of language learning rather than methods that force you to practice. Over the years, I've learned a simple yet useful way to think about studying: the more work required by your brain when you're studying, the more effective your studying session will be. Great video Luca!

For me, it was seeing Luca fearful of the tiny tiger 🐅 guarding his fridge!

I am terribly lazy. I can read a book or watch TV series all day. But if I have to actively focus on learning, I will last less than hour, my brain will hurt and I will do my best to avoid learning the next day:p Passive absorption is a lifesaver for me:)

My view on active VS passive has to do more with if you are singletasking or if you are multitasking. So regular reading would for example not be "passive" for me. It would be active (since I am single-tasking). Adding highlighting etc. would only make it *more* active. Passive speaking practice for would be more like taking a walk while speaking. I agree with all your points. I guess I just categorize passive and active differently :) Keep up the good work Luca!

Ciao Luca, secondo te è possibile studiare russo cinese e giapponese insieme ? A breve mi iscriverò a lingue e stavo pensando di fare queste tre lingue insieme, però Giapponese già lo conosco a livello B1 quindi lo continuerei privatamente e seguendo liberamente i corsi dell’università. Sono ancora indeciso tra il russo e l’inglese , inglese è la mia lingua preferita ma già ho un livello C1 e sinceramente studiarlo per altri 5 anni di università mi sembra banale. Tuttavia ho paura di non farcela a studiare 3 lingue così difficili insieme o di studiarle male dato che non potrò concentrarmi al 100% su una sola lingua. Cosa mi consiglieresti di fare ? Secondo te è fattibile ?

Salut Luca . Merci pour tout ce que tu fais pour nous sur youtube. Mais il se trouve que la majorité de tes vidéos sont en anglais. Pourquoi ne pas faire aussi des vidéos en français en donnant des conseils sur comment apprendre les langues. Je vie en Italie depuis 4 ans , mais je suis toujours bloqué au niveau B1 , je n'arrive pas à passer malgré tous les efforts que je fournis tous les jours en lisant , en écoutant etc . Selon toi sur dois-je faire pour progresser ?

A great language learning tip which, which I advise, would be going through the same material more than once (rereading, rewatching, relistening...). :) I also have a question for you - how do you make time for each aspect of a language (writing, speaking, listening and reading)?

Nice advice, although I‘m not quite convinced. I don‘t say, that you‘re advice wouldn‘t work, but I think it is a little incompatible with a fulltine job and a Family live with a little child.

I cannot agree with you more. I think this is common knowledge, but finding assurance is important.
