Language Tag: Swahili vs Shona 

I watched the closure show from Zimbabwe and I am a kiswahili speaker from Kenya and noted the following words. Mimba _pregnancy. Hapana-no, hakuna-no/nothing, mwana/child, mwezi/month, wapi/where, yupi/who... The list continues of cause the pronunciations are slightly different.

Why are Bantu Languages so closely related, Even Semitic languages aren't this close, I'm Zulu and I familiarized with a lot of those words.

The Shona originated from the tanganyika which means first country

Swahili was influenced by Arab and local traders, Great Zimbabwe was the ancient World Trade Center of gold and ivory. In a nutshell Swahili is heavily influenced by Shona. Most importantly Shonas are technically East Africas more than southern Africans. KiRwanda in Rwanda is more like Shona
