LSQ-speaking family in Ontario here, and this was so fun to see! Fun fact, there's a couple signs where we in Ontario use the ASL sign, like "cold" and "grandma/grandpa", which about matches up with Ontario French-speakers, who naturally have a bit more imported words from English than our Québec cousins. (I always say "mon coat" instead of "mon manteau", for example, despite knowing perfectly what the word is in French. Just... habit.) It's like people in Paris saying "un grapefruit" instead of "un pamplemousse".

relatable bilingual content - w me, i always say "pan" instead of "bread" in english, and "banana" for "platano" in spanish, for example. especially with expressions, like "me da una rabia" calqued as "it gives me an anger," "estoy en problemas" as "i'm in problems", "de la nada" as "out of the nothing" (instead of "it makes me angry, i'm in trouble, or out of the blue").

I do VRI and in theory we only get ASL users. In practice... not so much. Then I have to explain to hearing Canadians that LSQ is not a Quebecois acronym for ASL, which then requires explaining.... ad infinitum. But it's still very cool to see examples of LSQ.

That's really cool, I wondered which sign language Deaf people in Quebec use, which I thought would be either ASL or LSF, but I found out they have a whole nother language! I'm guessing they might know ASL as well but it's still cool to know that LSQ exists anyway. ~:~

I’ve been asked if those who use sign , “Can’t you all understand each other?” Um, no. I give the example of the many languages spoken in the world and not many understand each other.

Yeah, most hearing people don't know that sign languages are not "planned" or "man made" but develop naturally just like spoken languages. ~:~
