So let me get this straight, you just riled up a crowd with the promise of explosives to celebrate our freedom, then, cancelled it because a rowdy group of people acted like a rowdy group of people. You make it sound like they tried to rush the fireworks but it sounds to me like a few too many people trying to look cool climbing a fence. Then the people in charge got upset, possibly because of the demograghic of folks(based on the words used in the article) So they made it sound like it would be utterly impossible to restore the sanctity or safety of the ritual. Thereby casting social shame on the only demograghic that every single person capable of reading this was a part of. You were a child. You view your childhood with rose-tinted glasses but you did wrong too! You weren't right, you were lucky to have structure that protected you from your own mistakes, these folk got unlucky. They are not the reason no fireworks got set off. Thats on you and your sensibilities.

The kids are just fine. It's your rigidity that worries me. Historically you would be very hard pressed to find a spectacle like this get cancelled without any negative reaction. "The show must go on." Might mean more than just a catchy phrase for actors.

Got to follow rules bro. When you don't it ruins it for everyone. You must be a Gen Z or Millennial raised on believing disruptive behavior is acceptable and following rules is just a suggestion

@@mr.g5963 I was raised watching prior generations act like they had found all the answers, just before the dunning-kruger effect spread like wildfire. You can't just ordain rules from on high as if there is one set to be followed. There are rules against lighting explosives but we make an exception on the day we celebrate our independence. You aren't training a strangers child, you are teaching a person that they won't be forgiven in your social structures. They should've been held responsible, not socially shamed and denegrated to their community.
