Doris, you are one of my heroes! You consistently educate and inspire - even in this troubled, yet hopeful time. You have an insight and understanding Into human nature, and the bigger picture; that informs your historical look at inspiration, decent, innovation and reflection . . . You remind me of our collective connection to history, art, fashion and the recognition and pursuit of beauty in our lives. Truly: you are as much a great teacher as a remarkable business woman. I always look forward to your presentations; they link me to my origins and passion for design and the history behind it. Thank you for your contributions! You ROCK! 😊
Lanvin is my favorite fashion house ever! Thanks for this wonderful knowledge you shared with us. Very sorry to hear about the looting. That black dress is seriously incredible and definitely belongs in a museum.
A truly iconic house ,the modern pieces still contain an “echo “ of its original pieces.( if that makes any sense). An education as always Doris, I’m so pleased you & the team can get back to what you all do best. X
Exactly my thought, I can go on and on and on listening to your soothing (earthy) voice. Your voice has such credibility, that even if you said the “beautiful red dress at my back...” when obviously it is green, I would say okay if you said so, ha ha ha, does it even make sense? I just love 💕 watching your channel 👏👍. Waiting for the W🌏RLD to HEAL 😷.
Thank you Doris and the amazing people at The Way We Wore for putting out such enlightening and entertaining fashion content. You’re a living repository of fashion knowledge and your videos are amazing! I’m so glad that you decided to cover Lanvin, I feel like the house’s history as an innovator of couture is sadly often overlooked. I’d love to see episodes on Fortuny, Elsa Schiaparelli, Poiret, Vionnet and other early 20th Century couturiers as well. Keep up the fantastic content!
I'm so sorry you were looted. Tragic loss of beautiful garments. I'd love to see more couture finishing details, like boning, seam finishes, how linings are attached and hemming secrets. My dreeam is to visit your store in person and by a garment. Looking forward to that occasion, Best wishes for a sucessful reopening. Jacqui

It's you! Doris. I haven't seen you here for years! I saw your program on Smithsonian Channel, but only a few shows and I wanted more. I love the sound of your voice and your passion for your work! Ok, I'll subscribe now.
Love your show Doris, from the midst of farming land in South Australia. You provide the fashion glam in my life.Thank you for you life work, muchly appreciated!!
Thank you so much for this! This creation is fabulous and I love to hear such rich history. Hope the financial impact of the looting isn’t much and you are able to rebuild quickly!
I learned that Lanvin is a woman which is embarassing in the assumption. I had no idea about the history nor these remarkable designs. Her business history is also of great interest. Thank you.
I adore lanvin! Thankyou for the lesson about robe de style =] ooh, claude! Yes, alber is sorely missed! He had such a way with making clothes. But for timelessness, mme.lanvin is unrivalled! Yay, no shattering ♡
Hi Doris. I'm a new subscriber and thrilled to be part of the tribe! I just love your storytelling and passion. Thanks for all that you do and for sharing your collections.
Congrats on 40,000+. Omg, these pieces are, well, are just beautiful. The 20’s piece is astounding. I can imagine what it looked like before the beads tarnished. It must’ve been astonishing. Keep on keepin’ on, we’re all here rooting , and praying for you and your team.
MAGNIFIQUE!!! Was DELIGHTED to see a new video notification so soon after your ordeal....as always, the subject content was engaging---be still my heart for the robe de style....but allow me to thank you for such inspiring conduct---your 'keeping calm and carrying on' during these uniquely challenging times. You are a wonderful inspiration to us all. Thank you.
I love your episodes but i hope you don't feel any pressure to post every week especially in a time like this where you must be quite overwhelmed.. Hope the best will come xx
There is just something about Lanvin The emerald green piece is beautiful, as are the others Thanks for sharing them with us Doris!!! Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 x
We want to see all things CHANEL ! Please! (I'm commenting to help with your algorithm😉) love what your doing. I get so excited when there's a new video! Thanks for all you do❤
The Lanvin gown is absolutely amazing. It was heartbreaking to hear you were looted, especially losing the jewelry. One of my favorite episodes of L A Frockstars was the visit to Joseff’s. I hope your designer inspiration room is intact, I always enjoyed your segments in there and would love to see more.
Thank you, Doris, if I ever came to L A, I would visit your store, i imagine myself twirling around in many of your beautiful collections. I'm so sorry you were looted that is very sad. Keep up the amazing presentations!❤️
My heart shatters each and every time when I realise that I'll never be able to own an actual vintage clothing as I can never afford one, don't have that money.
Depends how vintage! I've seen stuff from the 50s and 60s in thrift stores, even easier if you like the 80s or 90s. It might not be Dior or Gucci, but you can own a vintage dress for $20!
@@allmakeupempties6743 NO WAYYYYYY...... SERIOUSLY???!!! THAT CHEAP?! I've always seen dresses to price thousand bucks especially if they're authentically vintage!
Another interesting video, I learned a lot today, especially about this fashion house which I had never known much about before! The dresses were beautiful in their own way! The embroidery, and styling was amazing! Thank you again!
Hey Doris thanks for this video & for sharing continuously during these times! Could you make an episode on Claude Montana? Or Gianfranco Ferre and his designs for Dior.. Would love an episode on 80s Fashion
Doris , Just wants to say that I really enjoy every time you post this videos I learn a lot and keep my curiosity going and explore this amazing industry and the passion you have for it, also for your bravery of continue under the circumstances of first shot down due to COVID 19, them your store vandalized due to the protest. You have keep going I hope one day not to long after I hope everything is normal ( or what we call new world ) to visit your store and pick some thing that I can add to my wardrobe perhaps a nice pin, broche etc that I can wear with my suits. Great job Mrs. Doris
Im a true romantic Doris.I love clothes from the Victorian Era the lace puffed sleeves leg of mutton sleeves lace high neck 👚 blouses.I love Victorian Wedding Dresses.I love all the ladies designd by Jessica McClintock all her clothes were for special occasions and 💒 wedding dresses in the 80s.Her designs were silk lace faille.I loved her dresses.I wished I could get a designer like her
So sorry that you were looted, I enjoy your videos so much. I’m a plus size woman,so the beautiful clothing you carry will not fit my body, but I love the information that you present. My head is not plus size, and I love hats and I have several vintage ones in my collection. I also love vintage purses and I will be checking out your website for these things.
Doris,THANK YOU for introducing me to vintage fashion, about which I previously knew almost nothing. Stay safe and well. With love and appreciation from the UK.
The wife's replying you show us some amazing clothes. Compared to some of the designers today vintage clothes are outstandingly beautiful thank you for sharing these items with us
I adore your channel. You are so knowledgeable in this form of Decorative Arts. What would help me is if you could write down in the notes the French spelling of fabric and techniques. If I have the spelling, then I can do some research and educate myself. Thank you very kindly, Jeanne
First of all, I want to thank you for your videos. They are inspirational. I’m a hair stylist, and I absolutely love the fashion you teach about. I am soooooo angry that you were targeted in the looting. The businesses were already hurting... but then your collections that took a life time to collect we’re just taken....it just breaks my heart. You are one touch lady.
Doris--you have maintained a positive spirit and outlook and determination to continue your mission following the looting incident of your precious business--you are a role-model for many!
I am so saddened by the looting of your place. It broke my heart because there is no need for these crimes. You bring a lot of beauty in our world and help us through a lot with grace. My husband says I am obsessed but it is appreciation of how you bring us to a different time in history through clothing. God bless you and be well.
So sorry about the looting The 1926 dress is beyond words, beautiful! As someone who's trying to sew a vintage inspired wardrobe, it's so inspiring Lanvin's history is full amazing creations, I'm just the owner of an humble pair of early 50s stockings, but they are the most amazing raspberry colour and feature a gold illustration by my fellow citizen Rene Gruau in the packaging
and for the short period that Claude Montana was at Lanvin he won twice the Dé d'Or , used to be the Haute Couture "Oscar" awarded yearly for the best couture collection , he was ousted because he refused to also design the ready to wear Lanvin's collection...
Another great vignette, Doris, thank you for bringing style and fashion for me to aspire to as I've been shrouded in sweats and leggings the past three months. The sunny weather is inspiring me to look into my closet again and dress up just to walk to the UPS store. I feel better already, fashion does that, it up lifts my mood. Look forward to more vignettes. I'd love to see an episode on cocktail dresses, along with the popular cocktails of that era, perhaps with a recipe so the viewer can recreate one for ourselves.
Doris ! You truly are the embodiment of love what you do and you will never work again! I have followed you for a long time ! I hope to be in your store one day soon ! Lots of love from London !
The black dress is stunning! I've always loved the Lanvin logo. I have a Lanvin red plastic compartmented box with a gold base that my father used for his cufflinks. He died in 1966.
Lovely Lanvin creations and great story and information. I gasped and was stunned upon hearing of the looting of your gorgeous store. Never has there been a more *INNOCENT* and *HARMLESS* person than Doris. You are a bright light in this world, full of kindness and gentle goodness. I wish you all the best during this difficult time. 💟 💟 💟
Wow, the robe de style is truly amazing! I'm not a great connoisseur of fashion history and as an amateur didn't know that the flared sillhouette was a thing in the 1920s, but the influence of the 17th century styles is fascinating! Thank you for sharing these lovely pieces :)
I'm learning so much from just watching this channel and it's really fun too. Even my boyfriend started watching some episodes. Thank you so much, Doris. I like your style of presentation - you really transport your love for the pieces in a very natural way and are always so respectful for the people behind the art. It is really easy to get information on many, many subjects these days, but finding a channel with this quality and love for the topic is just great. Good luck for your reopening, I was shocked to hear about, what happened to your business. Looking forward to any episode you find the time to make ☺️ Love and greetings from Germany🌻
Thank you for continuing your beautiful and interesting videos. You are very strong. If my small collection had been looted, I would have been devastated. I would become a hermit.
Sylvie Boulanger Hi Sylvie. Thanks for your sympathy. Believe me- I want to become a hermit. I am trying to work through the shock and upset and just focus on the gratitude. I still have a business, many victims of the looting lost everything. Focus on gratitude. Thanks for your care, concern and interest! Doris
I'm so sorry to hear that your store was looted, Doris. :-( I've been watching your videos, and I've learned quite a lot about Mexican silver, costume, design and fashion history.
I love Lanvin as well she indeed she was the first couturier to cater to the entire family. Also her embroideries is very distinctly influenced by the Mediterranean most specifically Croatia which where she came from.
Thank you for your presentations. I collect designer scarves and I have several vintage Lanvin. Once again, I am so sorry about the looting. You have worked o long and so hard creating your business, shame on them.
Lovely and exquisite! I admire your tenacity, Doris. I hope the cops have a lead on the theft. Keep doing what you are doing, it certainly is your calling!❤
Hang in there! I'm a new fan of yours and we share the age issue. How you have battled through one thing after another this past year my darling girl. You are a definite roll model, the knowledge in your brain!! Oy Vey! Keep Goin!
Doris I've been thinking about you all week, I hope you're doing OK, I can't begin to imagine what you've been going through trying to sort your store out. I'm hoping to come visit from Scotland next year when things calm down with the virus. Love your videos, and I appreciate the educational factor being trained in fashion design myself (I studied stitched textiles and fashion in college) take care 💜
Doris! I wanted to thank you and your team for these videos! I’ve learned so much it is helping me in my career. I am a historian and art historian. I work at a historical society where I digitize photographs and documents. Sometimes we receive items that have no provenance that I have to figure out. Lately I have been able to identify information about what we receive by what I have learned about fashion on this channel! It’s amazing! Thank you.
Wow! So wonderful to see you on these youtubes! I only just found out through the Costumers Alliance. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and experiences! So sorry to hear about the looting. It's been so long since we've been in touch. Best wishes on recovering and reopening soon!
