Thanks Ryan! BTW, just finished Part 2 of your Alpe race, absolutely awesome! Congrats how far you’ve come and you have a great ability to tell a story. Keep it up, you are a wonderful ambassador for the Zwift community!
I had connection problems also at the beginning when I paired the controllers through my phone. I bought a BT dongle for my PC and just paired my play controllers with that. No more issues after that.
I watched your race as recon, it was an awesome effort! I don’t think there’s anyway I could’ve held off a group for 2.5 laps, but figured I’d try to break it apart at least. Nice win in your race!
Lolol!! Sorry about the shifting! An early breakaway would’ve made for a long race for me, but I strongly believe you could’ve done it for sure on final lap! Keep it up.
Yeah, I didn’t expect to get away on the first climb, just wanted to push and split the pack up. Unfortunately, my fitness levels and Zwift Plays had other plans 😅
Hey Caedmon, hope you are ok. Unlike you to just disappear from the landscape for an extended period of time like that. Hope you are just enjoying the weather and outside riding :)
You might need to use an extension USB cable and a BT dongle. Place the dongle as close to the zwiftplay's as you can. Some people mount it just under the stem. You could also try pairing all of your BT devices through your phone.
Thanks Roy! Between ANT+, Bluetooth with the ZwiftHub and my phone, it’s tough to know where everything is connecting now. I’m assuming the Zwift plays are currently connected through my phone. Perhaps the BT dongle so they are connected through my laptop is the best way forward. May try this!
Just an observation, and maybe it’s comfortable for you, but your handlebars look a tad too wide. Have you ridden a narrower bar? I moved to a narrower bar after a fitting and it helped relieve some pressure on my hands. Thanks for posting!
I tried doing this race today and after the first lap all riders disappeared from my screen. Apparently i was disconnected. This race today was cursed!
My Zwift Plays are less than 50cm away from my external bluetooth dongle, and it still struggles to pair! But that seems to be a BLE issue, as my power pedals take forever to pair properly over BLE as well, but are instant with ANT+. BLE seems fairly unreliable (compared to regular Bluetooth). And feels like virtual shifting when you have actual gears is a solution in search of a problem, personally :p
I wonder if it is a pairing issue with the shifter where it disconnects and then shuts off because of that. Have you tried to delete the device and reconnect it. I pair my Play controllers to my Zwift Hub and have been lucky I and haven't had any issues with them.
It could be your headphones interfering with the Bluetooth. I had a similar problem with my power meter. They kept clashing and interfering with the connection!! My power meter kept dropping off!
Oh interesting, I hadn’t thought of that but could definitely be the case. I’ll turn off my headphones on a free ride and see if that fixes it. Thanks!
@CaedmonCycling to resolve the problem, I purchased different headphones. The frequency was different. It seemed to resolve the drop-off issue. Good luck 👍🏾 Let us know how you get on 🙌🏾
Dude hate to see mechanical and/or tech issue come up on race day. Hope it’s an easy fix for you as I think this is 2 races in a row now. You really looked in control until that issue and keep at it.
