Hello beautiful human,
Here are some things to do, and NOT to do before/after your laparoscopy. (5:02) for my personal favourite and probably the most helpful, but be warned it's definitely TMI hahaha you know me, love an over share for the sake of health!

Currently recovering from my 3rd lap due to endometriosis. It has been 5 days and standing/walking around for brief periods of time still makes me feel nauseous from physical exhaustion. Today was the first day I washed since the night before surgery, which meant washing my body via the sink a washcloth and soap, then kneeling over the tub to wash/rinse my hair. Simply because my abdomen is still a bit too sore to tolerate warm/hot water hitting my incisions. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: not a doctor, just someone who has been down this road a few times. It is important to walk around as soon as you are able (just not too much) to help digestion and to help expel the gas in your belly that they used to inflate your abdomen, so that they could see and operate better. Gas-X or other gas relief meds are also crucial for comfort. You may experience mild to SEVERE chest and shoulder pain from said gas; a heating pad on the back/shoulders feels really good during this part of recovery. Don't go straight for full meals after surgery, your body has just been through physical trauma, and needs a few days to heal a bit. Toast, crackers, Jello, etc. are good easy foods to digest. Hot foods like soup or hot drinks may be uncomfortable to digest for awhile, because the surgeon was very likely poking around your intestines and bladder...so trust me when I say you're gonna feel hot liquid go down. Feel free to CAUTIOUSLY increase food variety as you heal, and as your appetite slowly returns to normal. If you rush it, you're more at risk for vomiting, which is NOT fun when your abdomen is stitched and glued like a DIY project. Be prepared for vaginal bleeding, pads are a must, and baby wipes can make you feel a little fresher "down there" while you continue to build up the energy to wash yourself. As well as the stool softener that was already mentioned, probiotics can also help regulate and ease gut health while recovering and taking pain meds. Recovery time varies of course, so take things slow and don't push it or you WILL regret it. You'll start to go a little stir-crazy from things being unorganized and feeling like a slug... just rest. If you can/feel able to tolerate it, going outside for even a few seconds (even just sitting out on your porch or apartment balcony) can provide some fresh air, and relief from that 'overwhelmed' and 'claustrophobic' feeling.

@@danajacobs9097 Surgery didn't really help as much as last time, because I've got fibrosis now, which grows back a lot faster than the endo. But they did manage to unstick some of my organs, including my ovary that was stuck to my abdominal wall. As far as "how big mine was" I'm afraid I don't know what you mean?

I a now one week out from my surgery and I am just now beginning❤ to feel human again. No major pain, drinking like a champ. Only issue is: my mobility is naturally impaired, so I need assistance to get rid of all that fluid. My guy walks me into the bathroom and helps me settle back in bed. I started feeling depressed, but I’m working on making life changes to enjoy the rest of my time. (I’m 69). I have 3 children and 4 grandchildren, so I’m done with my ovaries. And no feeling older for the first time in my life. The future is plenty of time to change!

I'm currently recovering from my second laparascopic surgery in six months. I have found I can't tolerate hot drinks, warm is fine, but hot drinks HURT. Because you've got so much inflammation already, adding super hot tea was NOT good. I love my really hot drinks, but the pain made them decidedly unsatisfying 😢 Keep up fluids, eat fruit. Take all the painkillers to a schedule. DON'T wait for the pain to hit before a dose, because they take time to work. Set reminders or alarms on your phone and stick to it. Paracetamol, ibuprofen, and opioids if you're given them. There are NO medals handed out for putting up with pain unnecessarily! Pain relief is one of the great medical marvels, take advantage! Oh, and throat lozenges. Not only do you feel dry, but the intubation can cause irritation, so you'll probably have a REALLY sore throat.

Were you loopy after your surgery? Personally it's one of my biggest fears to be loopy and say something stupid in front of my family. Idk why I just have panic attacks just thinking about it. I have my surgery coming up this next month and I'm very nervous. Any tips with anaesthesia?
@paris32433
@paris32433 3 года назад
I just had my surgery yesterday and I didn’t say anything while on anesthesia. They give you a cocktail of pain medicine prior to surgery and you get relaxed and sleepy instantly. Then next time you wake up it’s during the recovery room and they give you a little bit more pain meds and light food (crackers and juice) then you go home. :)
@FrederickaChopin

It’s different anesthetic than what you get with wisdom teeth extraction. I didn’t feel loopy at all after my laparoscopic surgery, FYI. Hope that helps assuage your anxiety.

I woke up & had a normal conversation with my surgeon straight away. Slight pain but was given pain meds as I requested. It's nithing to worry about, girl ♡ In hospital settings, etc. I always think, these professions have seen / heard it all. So, the only thing you need to be concerned with is getting better.

Hun. You can ask for non nauseated meds and anesthetic.
@Panda72021
@Panda72021 Год назад
I have emetaphobia too, I have felt dizzy and nauseous, but haven't puked with any of my laps. I take Zofran (an RX anti-nausea drug) on a pretty regular basis anyway, so I just keep that and Bonine (a motion sickness medication you can get over-the-counter) on hand; both help keep my stomach settled. Or for more long term relief, you can ask your doctor for Scolopamine patches. Little round patches that go behind your ear, that can help with nausea. Did that once or twice with surgeries, and it worked really well for me.
@etherealsekrets182
@etherealsekrets182 5 месяцев назад
@@Panda72021I had No idea that phobia was a thing. I had this until I got pregnant the first time. I used to be able to control the urge for over a decade, even with food poisoning. Pregnancy got me over that real fast lol. I was even traumatized by some guy at school making himself throw up in front of people at one point.
@Panda72021
@Panda72021 5 месяцев назад
@@etherealsekrets182 Yes it can certainly be a traumatic phobia (for me it personally is, as it triggers full-blown panic attacks) some people have found the phobia to be less controlling after pregnancy. I have no desire for children, so I will likely be stuck with emetophobia. Everybody has difficult things to live with though; and while I've had my fair share of vomiting (car sickness as a kid, chronic health issues as a teen/adult) I rarely puke these days and am rarely around people who are. Just one of those things you have to take as it comes.
