I am not a car person and don't really drive much these days so my opinion might not mean much. I think this is perfectly fine when people make sure everything is safe. Even if it is not a official event is should be still handled like one as a lot can go wrong. The idiots who will form groups and race around cars in publicly used areas ruin it for others. Too many people these days just want to go and have fun without any preparation or proper planning which usually ends in some form of tragedy or laws being made.
