Thank you brother, exactly same problem in my same adapter. I checked with voltmeter like you . The short-circuited place was at the entrance, I cut it 10 cm ahead and soldered it again, the problem was solved. Thanks again.

I opened my laptop charger and 2 small capacitors near the DC wires out were burst open and leaking light brown fluid. I don't know if anything more is broken.
Brother, I have a laptop charger. The problem is that it is a 16 volt laptop charger. When I put it in the current, the voltage comes and goes again. It shows the voltage in half a second and then goes away.
I just disassembled mine and it started working.... Something is making it short circuit... The Acer laptop was bought in 2007 I wonder if this has to do with programmed obsolescence... I will have to disassemble it again for it to lose the electricity peak.. I also recommend simply to use black electricity tape around it in case you need to open it again

I have a Lenovo thinkpad x220 laptop adapter that does not work correctly, when I connect it from AC current it gives current to my pc, then after a few minutes it cuts, I disconnected it from AC, leave it for a few minutes, then after I still connected it to AC and in my pc too, it gives current, after a few more minutes the current cuts in my pc. Is it that it gives current intermittently? What's the piece that can cut the power like that?

Thanks but i notice at 2:00min in your last DC voltage check was done on AC setting on the Meter and at 10:35-38min you did not re-attach the Ground to shinny case if you remember you had to pry it off so is it not totally Grounded? That's Dangerous ; I'm thankful for your time but Dude Safety First!
That "shiny case" is not for ground, it is to cut down EMF only. He pried it off because it was glued in place.....no ground connection. It is safe, no problem.

turn on ditial meter dc 1000 volt and connect red probe at positive and negative of main filter capacitor near ac bridge rectifier ( 120 mf 450v capacitor)

Which component should I check inside if there is a short circuit in the adapter? I mistakenly shorted the pins with the multimeter connectors while I was trying to check the output from the adapter. Can u tell me which portion of the adapter is shorted is it the wire or something inside? The input pins are also showing short circuit

Hello there I have a problem on my charger IDK but I think it's over heat up and I hope ur reading this it's been 2 yrs sooooo my charger is over heat up and it's smelly and all the things are all burn to crisp
don't use cello tape inside.....it may burn due to heat generated. Also scratch thermal grease from the transistor and then put new thermal paste otherwise transistor will blow during usage
