Over the years, Lapu-Lapu became a threat to Humabons power. Humabon accepted Christianity so he may use Magellans Western Weapons and Armor. after failing Mactan, the remaining Europeans who reported back to Humabon were given a feast and died because it was poisoned... Out of 3 Ships that remained, they had to burn 1. only 2 Left the Islands. only 1 made it back to Spain.

As a historian aspirant, some details are inconsistent and misleading. For example, before the arrival of Magellan there's already a feud between Rajah Humabon and Lapu-lapu. You see, lapu lapu is a vassal of Rajah humabon but as he grew stronger he started to contradict humabon and started raiding the ships and it destroys the business of Rajah Humabon. Moreover, the original name of Mactan is "mangatang" meaning ambush or to ambush. Your videos are great, I found it interesting as am exposed to new ideas and perspective. I tried to make my own animation but I lack the time and resources for I'm doing my research, observation and practice teaching (ojt) as one of my requirements in order to earn my degree. I'm sincerely admiring your channel History Animated.

I like how you tell the story despite of some historian wannabes who wasn't even present during that time. Humabon was a traitor, and he showed that by poisoning the remaining Spanish survivors after they failed Humabon's request to kill Lapu Lapu.

Historian William Henry Scott points out that Magellan misunderstood the societal structure of the Philippine. He thought that it was similar to Europe’s, with a king and his kingdom. Unfortunately for Magellan, the Philippines society then was a chiefdom where the datus managed the regional affairs but did not control the lands or its subjects. Magellan believed that Rajah Humabon was the ruler of Mactan because he was the king of Cebu. But Lapu-Lapu held power in Mactan, and the natives were more devoted to him than any other king. The 'Aginid' mentions that Humabon had intentionally pitted the Spaniard against Lapu-Lapu as he considered the chieftain his enemy. However, Humabon's men did not directly participate in the battle and focussed on helping the injured Spaniards instead. According to 'Aginid', Humabon poisoned 27 Spanish sailors because they were raping the local women. Family & Personal Life It is said that Lapu-Lapu and Humabon improved their relations after the battle, and the chieftain moved back to live in Borneo with his wives and children. In 1542, one his slaves stabbed him to death while one of his wives was giving birth. He was almost 51 years old at the time of his death. The Lapu-Lapu Shrine was constructed on his burial ground in Mactan.

Magallanes did nothing wrong. All he wanted was to centralize Philippines government yet these days Magallanes is seen as a bloody barbarian when he came trying to talk with lapu lapu until he got attacked by lapu’s 1500 warriors and humilliated in a few whiles while he gave time for his men to escape. Lapu lapu was not a hero just as Magallanes wasn’t a hero as well, despite thanks to him the Philippines would get Manila public hospitals unenforced Christianity excellent infrastructure rights etc. Christianity was not enforced. And the battle had 40 Spaniards and 1500 Philippine troops. In fact, the first president of the Philippines regretted gaining independence from Spain, and the Philippines were not a colony as it was part of the metropole.

There's no empirical evidence presented on whatever claims youve made on this video. Pls. He did not come from Borneo, theres no proof he fought pirates or thathe is pirate and how did you come up with his teenage years about swimminng and stuff? jeesus man

This video perpetuates anti-Spanish and pro China and the US myths rather than history. LapLapu cannot be the first "Phillipine hero" as claimed, simply because the Phillipines did not exist before the Spanish, who unified the islands and named them after Spanish King Felipe (Phillip) the 2nd.
