Extensions for your LAR magazines so they feel like 30 rounders!!! Email Alex at: alex@gsdesigns.ca Website will be up in September: www.shop.gsdesigns.ca
Just found your channel today and it may very well be my new favorite. I'm a huge firearms enthusiast/licensed gunsmith and law abiding citizen...which in this country, doesn't always add up to a good day at the range unfortunately. Mag caps have always been a huge issue for me. Unless you're someone who only shoots .22 it just puts a damper on everything. Having to carry $200 worth of mags to the range and swap then reload is totally unpractical and unfair to my wallet! And like you've said over and over, anybody that uses a firearm to inflict harm on another person isn't too concerned about making sure their mag is pinned to five or ten rounds. Yet it is us law abiding citizens and responsible firearm owners that suffer for the acts of criminals. Its all just a waste of our tax dollars when the government comes up with these laws
I'd like to see a 30 round PMag pinned to 10 for a "pistol"... that or maybe people can come to terms with the fact that guns are dangerous and it doesn't matter how many bullets are in a removable, easily modified magazine. Bad guys don't have pins in their mags.
Vehicles are dangerous. Utensils are dangerous. Outdoor tools are dangerous. Power tools are dangerous. Medicine is dangerous. Fuel is dangerous. Hockey sticks are dangerous. ... do I need to add more? Or can we get over the fact that life is dangerous, and personal responsibility promoted by proper education is the answer, rather than ass-brained restrictions? I'd guess that there are people other than "bad guys" who don't have pinned magazines. Maybe people who have figured out how to add and remove those pins? For home defense, assuming you aren't subjected to random searches, all you would have to do is not call law enforcement until you have used your fully loaded, 30 round magazine to take care of the problem, and put the magazine pin back into place. Just show that you have enough magazines to have shot as much as you did, and say you didn't have time to call law enforcement first. Obviously the "bad guys" don't restrict their own capabilities- they aren't stupid enough to be worried about extra firearm charges when they are already planning on a violent crime. But I would bet some people who don't plan on committing a crime don't worry about restrictions when planning for potential self-defense. I guarantee that "good people" could find ways around these laws. I wouldn't recommend breaking the law until worse restrictions and random raids and imprisonments start occurring- which I hope won't be Canada's future. If that's the case, the proper response is: "Hey, Canada! The 90's U.S. called! It wants your abusive federal thugs back!"
Andrew Tadsen 90's U.S. here; sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I was jamming out to some Nirvana while my ripped jeans and flannel shirt were in the wash. Just returning your call to say we're good on the abusive federal thugs; we clean forgot all about that batch and went and got a new set. Maybe you could put them up on Craigslist and sell them to an Inuit tribe; I understand they need polar bear bait ;)
Haha. I'm just hoping Canadians will be more observant of government abuse than Americans were in the 90's. Hopefully any such misconduct can be put to the public eye and stopped without violence. Canada doesn't need its own Oklahoma City revenge attack, and it definitely doesn't need a civil war. If things were more publicized in the 90's, and people weren't distracted by Y2K, there might have been much more violence. As long as Canada is informed about their freedoms, those freedoms will be very difficult to take away- just look how difficult federal gun control is to pass in the U.S., even with the relative mass ignorance of firearms.
Andrew Tadsen That's true. You would think that the progressive politicians, despite their patrician arrogance against the masses, would've learned by now that the gun owning population votes.
Im new to the AR15 platform, getting into it pretty good though. Found one of those LAR mags on a website and decided Id give it a go. Bought three, went to the range, and about 400 rounds later, I didn't have a single problem. They went in smooth on the first try, and ejected no problem at all. Popped right out. Ordered three more!
Thanks Rod. I was practicing with my Robinson Arms XCR-L and I just didn't like the fact those 10 round mags were small. I was used to the 30 pinned to 5. I appreciate the info!
5 rounds in a rifle is so ridiculous that I lied to my friends in Brazil and told them we can use 10 rounds....so embarrassing. I look those damn pins every time I get my MAGPUL/30 mags...it'd be great... :(
one day......one day.... when that damm 5 round limit is destroyed and we can have the full 30 rounds i am going to drill out those Fjfvbjshdbrfjhsbrfhjb pins so damm fast....
What do you need 30 rounds for anything? Are you too lazy to change mags every ten rounds with a "pistol" mag? Seriously man. Why would you need 30 rounds? Please explain that to me.
+ littledemonboy1 That would suck but bullets aren't used for fuel in any sense of the word. Your argument has no clout. We don't need 30 round magazines for civilians in Canada. Those high capacity mags is what turns a semi-automatic sporting rifle into a killing machine. We banned them after a guy used one in Montreal. The ban worked. Fuel has nothing to do with bullets so your argument makes no sense. Using your logic it might but your logic is flawed. Apples are not oranges.
Damn, Rod, those silly restrictions you Canadians have to put up with make Connecticut's laws look lax by comparison. Still, this seems like a good product if that's something you have to deal with. The offer still stands, though; if you ever find yourself in Virginia, we'll take out my X-Products X-15 50 round drum mag for a spin, and I'll even do the loading ;-)
You said it, brother. Keep up the fight! P.S. In case you're wondering who this crazy American is who keeps commenting on your videos and why doesn't he go bother Nutnfancy instead, the answer is because Nutnfancy's videos are too damn long. Brevity is the soul of wit...and gun videos :)
Rod, I need some clarification. An instructor at the local club told me that the LAR15 mag was illegal to use in Canada despite so many shops selling them. He said that the RCMP changed the rule. Rather than calling the RCMP and raising any red flags with them I'd rather ask here. Can we still use these without worrying about our guns, mags and ammo being stolen from us by the Feds? In Ontario if it matters. Thanks
SuperMansion1 I haven't heard about anything being changed with the LAR-15 mags but they somewhat recently changed the laws around the Beowolf mags that could hold 15.
If anyone is interested I had spoke to alex at gsdesigns via email and he has said he will be producing these magazine extensions for the new metal 50 beowulf magazines that are set to be in canada mid march.
Looks like a great solution with a problem.from what I can see I think your magazine setup may be considered prohibited devices because in canada magazines designed for semi auto center fire rifles are limited to five round and you've said that you have designed them to use in your semi auto center fire rifle and they hold 10 rounds.so when you do advertise these make it clear you have designed these magazines for use in PISTOLS then you should not have an issue.
Civil Advantage I'm not sure if I'm misreading this, but I just looked up the Special Bulletin; to me it reads that a magazine designed to fit both a centrefire pistol and rifle may not have more than 5 rounds. From the RCMP Website: Magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic rifle are limited to five cartridges. However, magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. Magazines designed or manufactured for use in both semiautomatic rifles and semiautomatic handguns are subject to the limit of five cartridges. That being said, Would the LAR magazine which holds 10 rounds be considered prohibited despite being stamped "Pistol Only"? EDIT: Just read section 4 of the bulletin... I'm an ass and please disregard the previous question. Love the channel BTW! Thanks!
HI ROD,awesome clip you présent ,i have a qst abot one of you'e clip ;for the 50 clb,in semi-auto ,is taht just the opper or you cant get the hole arm.
I think ATRS had a problem with the manufacturer in Israel for the 2ndGen ones so unless you can find some used Gen1's, we'll all be waiting another few months for the new batch. There's a update about it on CGN. I think in the ATRS section. Man, I want some. In the meantime, I'm stuck with Beowulf's. Woe is me lol.
OMG has everyone already given up and accepted having their rights ripped from them . Don't get me wrong but if you are modifying mags to get just ten rounds I feel like crying because if you are already using those mags just hand the AR 15 over to them
I will never just "hand over" my rifle. I met all the regulations the government put forth to own firearms, it will be cold day in hell before the government takes it without a fight! Fuck you Trudeau!!
on a different note. any one have a phone numbers for gs designs? i watched this video clip, got pumped about it so I bought some stuff online a month ago and they basically disappeared with my cash. no product no correspondence.
