Look at the history of the tomb raider games, what does she end up dealing with? some holy or eldritch artifacts that when misused makes people monsters or monstrous.
In the concept art for tomb raider, it shows that the game was definitely supposed to be more survival horror. Some of these horror elements are still quite prevalent. I mean, if you play the game you can clearly see how silent hill like some of the visuals are
Their not remakes. The only time Tomb Raider has been remade is Tomb Raider Anniversary 2013, rise, and shadow are reboots. Completley different origin from the legend timeline (6 games) and the classic timeline (6 games) All 3 Lara’s have different motivations, origins, etc
We Need some comic book rep in DBD! Carnage, Man-thing, morbius, Victor Zsaz, Professor Pyg, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, Frank-n-Castle, Mysterio, The Muse, ClayFace, Hugo strange and his monster men would all be awsome killers
The Legion is the Entity’s chosen so they get buffed, but like, Billy and Huntress are just abnormally strong people. Trapper is just a strongman, hag is twigs. Laura with an ice pick solos. Unless the Entity doesn’t want it because ultimately she is in control.
@@dejatwo i would say that dnd can be horror because you can some campaigne about a vampire lord who made his castle with the dead bodies of the people whose blood he drank, i would say thats horror (also vecna is a litch and a litch is a undead body ALSO he kinda was the most powerful wizard in the land that he is from)
@@Trickdulasince1999but also there was the PUBG and rainbow six collab so Lara is definitely not the first non horror character Also the recent trilogy has entire scenes inspired by horror films so the most recent games I would consider action/horror since 2013/rise are literally about her more so just surviving and then shadow is when the finally go back to the more action/adventure style
I think Lara croft fits perfectly into the DBD world Look at the history of the tomb raider games, what does she end up dealing with? Some holy or eldritch artifacts that when misused makes people monsters or monstrous generally amplifying some darker aspect of themselves. What's to say the entity temporally pulled her in as she was getting in the way of it's unknowable machinations in real space for a time.
The first new gen tomb raider game (i forgot the title) got a little bit horror-y towards the end, though. The blood pit and the oni and the spooky japanese empress who relies on sacrifices of maidens to keep living forever and all that....
For those who wants to know: Perk 1: while healthy +20% faster vault (30s) Perk 2: after cleabsing or opening chest, if you would screem, reveal killer instead. Perk 3: after opening or rummeging a chest get a token (3 max). When you hit a greay skill check while repearing a gen, reduce the max charges by 4% per token
Its so great to see them move away from horror and towards adventure. Lara could 100% fall into the fog on one of her expeditions! There is so much potential for characters who stumbled upon the fog looking for somethinf else
Since non-horror characters are now in the realm of possibility. I would really love to see both Homelander and Scarecrow as killers in DBD with Homelander using his heat vision with a massive cooldown and Scarecrow using his fear toxin to trick the survivors.
@@dejatwo I mean he would have a terrifying presence in the game and I’m sure the game devs can work their magic to make sure he doesn’t turn out like Micheal Myers’s
Whats most Interesting with the version of her they went with. It's not. She's the version from shadow of the tomb raider, In that game, she is less of an adventurer and more of a survivor trying to figure out how to stop a curse, so she definitely fits in. I mean i dont think anyone would dissagree shes a survior but from that game specifically she really embodies that roll
I skimmed through a news article about that the other day, and Imma be honest, I have mixed feelings about this.. I would *love* to play Lara Craft in dbd... except I don't play dbd cause I don't like horror games :') but yeah, semi-jokes aside I think it's cool they're doing that, I especially like how they've gone more for the reboot look rather than classic, it really works with the scary vibes
Yeah, I had to understand how powerful the energy is to grab people from the real world, not games and drag them into a game dimension we’re games are real or able to go to other games, franchises, and grab characters from there that’s power
my friend and i have said for years that lara would be fun in dbd and i'm so glad they're actually adding her, TR does have a lot of horror aspects in it so it totally makes sense
Although, she is not the first non-horror character collab. The Knight was a collaboration between Microsoft’s new medieval game and BHVR so technically Dbd made the horror aspect of the knight with a non-horror IP
The design is based on the tomb raider 13 which was actually planned to be a horror game you can see the remnants of that in the game speicaly the early levels
The doors were opened for a WHILE the poll regarding crossovers even including polls they had from EONS ago mentioned stuff like Attack on Titan (which is an action anime) on it
I want the Subnautica character as a survivor tbh, I think he would sorta fit in as a more futuristic theme but there isn’t really many ocean characters at all so something new
omg i was thinking this exactly like i love to see my girl larua in something else shes such a staple badass shes even had her own movie like shes deserves hers spot
The funny thing is, the way my friend who’s played tomb raider talks about the game, it’s absolutely horror. Jokes aside, she’s honestly a perfect fit for this game
Well.... if this doesn't turn out like Fortnite i'll be extremly happy... Imagine fucking Mario as a survivor and Kratos as the hunter. On the other hand, some characters can be extremly badass. Imagine Guts from Berserk in the armor rage mode as a hunter or Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2 as a survivor
Wait. When you think about the Lore of the OG Tomb Raider and the Reboot (Which this version of Lara Croft appears to be what we are getting in DBD), it kinda IS a Horror franchise.
Tomb Raider has horror elements weaved in the action. On the reboot/survivor trilogy, three major examples: • The tutorial phase of Tomb Raider (TR 2013) • Baba Yaga DLC (Rise Of The Tomb Raider) • Lara's Nightmare (Rise Of The Tomb Raider)
She looked a little strange to me at first but I couldn't figure out exactly why, but now I think it's because whenever I see this version of Lara in modern Tomb Raider she's always covered in copious amounts of dirt, grime, and sometimes blood.
Opening up the door for non-horror isnt necessarily a good thing. It can and will put Dbd at risk of losing its identity as a horror title. Now i want to clarify that i dont have a problem with Lara at all. Her games have significant horror elements and she herself is a survivor, so she fits in well. What i do have a problem with is potential ideas of ips not anywhere near horror or horror-adjacent, like homelander.
Soon youll be able to play as Dracula from Castlevania, chasing after Lara croft from Tomb Raider, while running through the halls of midwich from silent hill 3 and seeing a t-bagging ash williams in the distance from Evil Dead.
I love this addition, just hate how many people are mad that Lara isn’t a “horror” character and are complaining saying dbd is gonna be the next Fortnite 😭
I get the whole straying away from horror but my brother in christ they have nick cage, slipknot, iron maiden, and I think others that don’t really have to do with horror
I appreciate the non horror stuff, but I do hope they don’t focus too heavily on it since horror is what most of the fanbase including myself got into it for
Quincidentally I played the first of the reboot trilogy earlier this month, still holds up aside from the directors descixion to shove the camera at the characters sufferings to a fetishistic degree...
I been saying this from the beginning but the only thing a survivor or a killer needs is a massive emotional trauma and package and boom the entity will most likely pick them😅
