Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific parce. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music composition and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer of this new version. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. Lara's mother is Italian, which probably influenced her pronounciation of the word Adagio. She's pronouncing it as you would in Italian (or so I've heard).

Adagio is a word that we use not only for music theory but also sometimes in daily life. ("Guida Adagio" for example in Italian means " please drive slowly /carefully") You still have a lot of her songs to react at, and Eric the Expert will give you a list😊. @@pacscanadadatabaseservices3711 Most Belgian artists had to move abroad to be able to pursue an international career because, in Begium, there was a lack of production companies (I don't know if that's still the case), which is a shame, seen how many talented artists were born there. E.g., even our monumental Jacques Brel who only became of fame when he resettled in Paris. So, yes, and good for her, Lara Fabian's career benefited greatly from her moving to Canada. But her roots are definitely Belgian ... by her father who, did you know, was a guitar player who accompanied Petula Clark?, and her Sicilian mother gave her most certainly that extra multicultural touch. But let's not be chauvinistic; Lara Fabian is a great artist, which is what matters most.
