Lara Fabian is a great singer. When Dimash was 21 years old, he sang Adagio at the competition in China. Then Lara called him to congratulate him on the achievement, and she wrote many praises for Dimash on the networks. Dimash dreamed of someday singing a duet with Lara. And he did.
More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. Obviously you have a right to your opinion and I respect that. However, I just think you missed the mark here. I get you are impressed by Dimash's fireworks and all that but Lara is his idol for a reason. She is a masterclass vocalist who evokes emotion unlike any other. Many believe she is the greatest female vocalist of our time. I tend to agree. She is The Queen of Resonance and vowel coordination. She is The Ring.
Dimash is indeed special, but I would encourage you to hear a few more of Lara's songs. "Je Suis Malade", "Je T'aime" and "Caruso" are especially magnificient and allow you to feel her emotion a bit more. Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The very beautiful, very strong but always velvety voice in all of her 4.2 octaves ranges of Lara Fabian ... Always a simple outfit, no juwelery, a minimum of make up and natural fingernails on stage . No back up dancers , no glitter or fireworks ... The only thing that the audience gets is her beautiful voice , effortless singing and her emotional and expressive performances .. Lara wrote the lyrics on this old classic music composition in English and in Italian. Like Lara, composes, writes , sings and records more of her songs in 2 or 3 different languages . I like more the Italian version of Adagio. Italian is a more colored language ...
I am grateful to be seeing her in concert in May just a few days before Dimash’s concert. She has a rich buttery tone that I love. I found out about her because of Dimash. Supposedly he would listen to her songs as he was falling asleep. Dimash soars above all singers past and present IMO. He outdoes every cover’s original singer. A Dimash Dear in Oregon since 2017. ❤
I knew Lara way before Dimash. I absolutely love her voice timbre. She is an amazing storyteller and definitely influenced Dimash as a performer. I enjoyed listening to her for years. However, I became Dimash’s fan from the first notes of his SOS. Something in his voice is too magical for me.
I watch Dimash to be amazed by the capabilities of the greatest singer in the world (JMHO). When I want to listen to Adagio in my playlist, I choose Lara. I've been a fan of Lara Fabian for almost 25 years. I've been a "Dear" for about 5 years. And, an Angel for almost 7 years. And, a ? (Diana Ankudinova fan) for 5 years. A Morissette Amon fan for about 8 years. We just have to make a lot of room in our hearts because there are many more who are deserving (e.g.: Amira W., Alma D., Teddy S., Daryl Ong, Marcelito, Geoff Castellucci, etc.). The Adagio in G Minor for Organ and Strings has been popularly attributed to Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751), a Venetian baroque composer who wrote at least 81 operas as well as many instrumental works. As I understand it, Lara took some bars from Albioni’s Adagio composition, and wrote the lyrics she and Dimash use in the song. ❤
More than a few bars. It is a brilliant pop treatment of the whole piece attributed to Albinoni. (Giazotto, an Italian musicologist, supposedly found after WWII a few bars written by Albinoni and himself wrote the Adagio that he attributed to Albinoni.)
I'm pleased that the Dimash version worked for you. For me, he _butchered_ both the origional & the spirit of the source material, Albinoni's Adagio. Different strokes for different folks.

They are also accompanied by Iaeda Garafulina, a soprano. It is a beautiful composition by Igor Krutoy written especially for this trio by Igor. It is an absolutely stunning work of art. Hope you enjoy. If you would like to just another by Lara, then I would recommend her cover of LOVE BY GRACE performed at the 2011 Juno awards. This is her best performance of this song. She is sitting on a straight back chair, barefoot, and the way it was filmed, she is singing directly to your soul.

We know, but the difference is she might be emotive but for me Dimash shows the emotion and touch my heart with this song. Lara Fabian never did it, I heard this song for the first time when Lara launch it and never give me the same reaction that Dimash gives me. I can't explain.

@@teresalume7887I love both versions but, for me, Lara’s version is more connected to the music and the words. All she does highlights the lyrics and their (double) meaning. She created the song so she knows what should be injected emotionally. I don’t feel the same with Dimash’s version: his sudden acrobatics break the slow buildup (remember: adagio means slowly in italian), they impress me but do not touched me. Again only my personal taste. But his cover is great anyway. There are other songs from Dimash that brought me a lot of emotions so I am not at all saying he is not capable of it.

And her technique in breaking down a word into syllables and impregnating emotions into it. Not to mention her vocal clarity and the thickness of her voice and unmatched vocal power that fits perfectly when singing ballad songs. When it comes to songs requiring vocal agility and singing operatic songs. that is Dimash dimension. Certain songs would fit Laras Voice and prresentation. Certain Songs would fit Dimash Voice and presentation. Certain songs would fit certain artists voice. Add the individual differences to the mix when it comes to preference. by the listener.

She has an incredible voice. Dimash just has a way flood you with emotions. He is like a huge magnet that just draws you second he appears. He sucks you in. When I saw him in concert in New York he mesmerized the crowd for over 3 hours. It seemed like 30 minutes and I believe the audience would have stayed all night if he would have. There is something so warm and genuine about Dimash. He is a gentle soul who makes sure always to show great respect which is seriously lacking in today's artist. He said in an interview once that one day he will step from the stage and sit in the audience and he does not want the person next to him to look at him and say, " When you were on stage, you acted badly". He treasures his parents and grandparents and has made it clear he would never do anything to embarrass them or his country. I think he was brought up very well and it shows.
Yes, Dimash does have something special, and it is to do with him, who he is and how he is. You are absolutely right. Somehow his emotions and his power simply does something to people that cannot be explained. I can't help but say it again. He is a gift from God. He is here to pierce our hearts and awaken our emotions, and that's exactly what he does. I love Lara, she is magnificent, superb, an incomparable singer, and this is her song. But it has never brought me to tears, it has never given me chills, electricity or trembling inside. Dimash's versions do all of that and more. We are in a new age and the new generations are different from the old. They have a mission. I think Dimash is fulfilling his.

IMO it's all a question of taste and whether you prefer the excitement (and clash) of " over-the-top" singing. I much prefer Lara's tone and her more consistent build-up and delivery to create a perfect climax. Your belief in Dimash was revealed succinctly.

The song Adagio Instrumental dates back as far as 1685. Over the years there has been a number of adaptation’s to the song, most were key changes mainly. Dimasch kudaibergen canta impresionante , demasiado , a mi me tira para atrás , demasiado histriónico. La ara escribió la canción ,como habitualmente hace ,y su voz y su manera de transmitir ,no tiene que ver von Dimasch. Tendrias qye ver nas de La ara Fabián , para tener más para opinar.
Salut Robert ! Ça n´a pas du être rose de faire le Vietnam... ça laisse des marques . Lara n´en est pas moins la meilleure pour ceux qui savent reconnaître son oeuvre magistrale. I think I relate to your problem, but from the opposite end. I've always had this problem with comparing Pavarotti vs. Domingo singing Grenada. In my opinion the problem is just that Grenada was just too easy for Pavarotti and whilst they both were tenors, Domingo could not do the high notes like Pavarotti could. Now, coming to the second problem: Dimash sings in vibrato and with a very thin voice with lack of breath support. I can't stand listening to him for more than 20 seconds. Bocelli does the same to me. I think it's a matter of having different structure to ear drums that make different vibrations feel pleasant or not. Try a song you have not heard of Lara's and see if you like it or not. Then consider my suggestion about the different ear drums. If that does not solve it for you, listen to the Three Tenors O' Sole Mio 1994 and decide who sounds the best to your ears.

@@ABauland I am sure she was amazed at this boy's range more than anything else. Also only a handful of other singers ( and no males) had got anywhere close her performance level. It is also clear Dimash does have a great voice, particularly in his lower registers.

What is your problem? What planet have you fallen from? Dimash does all those things. He composes his own songs. Songs like Unforgettable Day, War and Peace, The story of One Sky, El Amor En Ti, Omir, When I've Got You and others are the greatest masterpieces. He is a multi instrumentalist, he plays several instruments including the piano. He speaks 3 languages and sings in about 17. And he is still very young, he could be Lara's son, and will accomplish much more with time.
