As I understood the information, the audience sings especially for Lara to give her strength and love again. She probably had a very difficult time, personally and professionally, and was about to give up her career. The pianist knew what was happening or had it coordinated with the audience. Serge LAMA wrote this song in relation to his personal life. “Je t’aime” has since been covered by a multitude of singers. Lara is certainly one of the best French-speaking interpreters. Lara is the most amazing performer I've ever heard/seen. We here in the US were denied her greatness during the heights of her career in the 90/2000 because of her record label and Celine Dion.

I see that other people have already commented about how the crowd was saying “we love you“ and she was replying with “I love you“. The other comments have also talked about how she was going through a really tough time and the audience knew about it and they planned this way of telling her that she was loved by them. It’s even more touching when you get that. At one point just before she was starting to sing, someone in the audience yelled “don’t sing Lara”, basically saying that they were going to sing to her … about how they loved her. The reply she said near the beginning is something along the lines of “you caught me off guard“. Anyway, this is the most amazing audience interaction I’ve ever seen. It would’ve been amazing to be there. I’m so glad they gave that gift to her … and to everyone who gets to watch it like us. And yes, I’m not ashamed to say that every time I watch it I end up with tears in my eyes
Lara was born in Belgium, her father is/was Belgium. Lara moved to Italy at a young age and grew up there living with her Mommy & Grand Mommy. Lara considers Italian her mother tongue, because it is the 1st language she spoke. ✌🏼

The music industry is filled with entertainers that claim to love their fans but perform for them as just another paying customer. When Lara sings it is as if she is singing just to you in a manner that connects with every member of the audience. She is magical, and in every performance that she puts her heart into the fans feel the love she has for them and in this case decided to serenade her and show the love back (the chorus line is "I love you" but the audience changed it to 'We love you). So sad that because of a few record labels and the deals they made with certain people, us in America have missed out on what the rest of the world has enjoyed, a truly legendary performer. Als Vlaming heb ik haar ook pas sinds enkele maanden leren kennen. Ze heeft aan Eurovisie deelgenomen voor Luxemburg, het jaar dat Celine Dion won voor Zwitserland. Nice to hear you are proud to be Belgian after listening to Lara. As a Dutch person, I can only be jealous. Seriously, I do not understand why she is not much better known in Northern Europe. I got to know her some 2 years ago, I have listened to work almost every day. I am flabbergasted. To me she is one of the greats, esp her performance. Like 'Le grand jacques". How can Belgium produce such greatness! Actually, both are born in Brussels, in adjacent quarters, to Flamish fathers, but are mostly French. And she is still going strong, performing frequently, developing new styles etc.

Lara is virtually unknown here in the U.S. I don't understand how or why she was kept off the market here. She could have been the biggest and best singer in the world, she is that good. Belgium and even France had to be proud. She is(was) better than Celine better than Whitney. I don't get it. It's got to have something to do with the record companies. They ruin everything out of greed....... Every performer that has ever been and ever will be can learn from this siren of song, that is..... Lara Fabian. All of her live performances are out of this world and filled to the max with expressive emotions. Just unbelievable. This is the model for Lucy Thomas to follow. The thing is….She began her career in Canada(Québec, French side) She’s a powerhouse, a masterclass for other singers… In the US, she was on the same disc company as Céline Dion and Sony wants her to sing Withney Houston style and she refuse, wanted to keep her own style. So she sold 3M discs in the US but let the field to Celine and concentrate her energy for Europe and Québec where she began….
I wouldn't say Whitney Houston style, but according to Lara, they wanted her to gravitate to pure pop and even hip-hop, and she drew a line at that point.

How difficult it must have been for her to keep herself in check and exercising control in the way that she did with everything that was happening around her.
