Please check out the official music video that Lara put out for this song. She gathered all her family and had them sit and and simply look at the camera as they would look at her mother, with a look of love and concern. You can't watch it with dry eyes, and her mother appears at the end. She passed away a couple of years ago now. This live performance is outstanding, but the mv really brings this song home in a special way. Lara wrote the song and produced the video to bring more awareness about Lewy Body Dementia and similar illnesses that rob from us our loved ones.

@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Her mom had Alzheimer's and she wrote it because of that. Check out the video. The last face is of her mom. She wrote this short after her mom shown the first symptoms... She talks about the monotony of those who forget those who they used to love, about how they don't understand what's going on, of their erratic behavior. At the beginning she talks about going from the window to the sofa, from the sofa to the window without a porpuse. It's sad... Her mother died already.

Thank you Jennifer. A very sad song, but how nice it is. "L’oubli" refers to oblivion, it describes a human being, probably an old lady, walking slowly like out of time, looking outside to see if the weather is good (from armchair to couch, from armchair to sofa). For her, nothing is really just like before. Oblivion ! Like a dead end, breaking her heart. She is still so beautiful, dark hair, no white hair, she accepts her fate, her memory getting the hell out from past to present. Oblivion is a space that no one understands, but for her it's the place that finally his soul resumes.

Song dedicated to her mother suffering from "dementia with Lewy bodies " = degenerative disease. The official clip video is absolutely poignant.( The saddened faces are those of her family and the last is that of her mother.)

More information about Lara, her background, career and great influence she has on the new generation of vocalists: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the “Je suis malade” song you reviewed is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these) Out of my mind I can list: • Adagio, • Mademoiselle Hyde, • Know, • Love of tired swans, She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva) And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: • Floor Jansen (Adagio) • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime) • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie) • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow) • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace) • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow) • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow) • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade) • .... Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara. If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.

@@TheSpeakEasyLounge great! If you want to understand better the context around Sony changing his plans and stopping to invest on Lara, and the end to a very promisin career start in the US, you can check this documentary as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TyB6vXDdZBY.html But, looking at this with some distance, I’m selfishly glad that Lara had to refocus on Europe. She was free in her artistry and produced authentic jewels. IMHO The US music producers are focused on entertainment, marketing and money, and tranforms voices and music in a bad way by over digitalizing it. They are not aiming for emotions, storytelling, … this does not suit Lara.

Lara is great but now Now I will introduce you to a South Korea crossover vocal harmony group called “ Forestella”They are a 4 male crossover harmony group from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers) combine to render a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s’ soulful rendition. And when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy) You will be moved to your core. Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times. And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna” But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths. All love from Miami Beach , Florida, Al

A song about her mother, suffering an Alzheimer... OBLIVION. She walks slowly as if she were battling time, she submits her body, all her moves. She looks around the place to see if the weather is fine. From the sofa to the couch. From the sofa to the couch, but there is no one that she must take care of. Nothing but just a cup to go by in the morning. To her, nothing is not exactly like it used to be before. From the sofa to the couch. From the sofa to the couch. Oblivion. The oblivion as a distraction from the hurtful tendencies. Oblivion as if she denounced her past, her sadness. Oblivion is superficial, it's what makes us suffer. But, on the inside, it's what helps us hold on. She remains that beautiful at an instant. On these black hair, not even a white hair. She accepts her choices, her memory that surpasses the battlefield, from the past to the present. Concerning the past, I speak to her for all of this and nothing. Her childhood, she keeps remembering. From a bouquet of roses that I just brought, the perfume won't go off but the memory will fade. Oblivion. The oblivion as a distraction from the hurtful tendencies. Oblivion as if she denounced her past, her sadness. Oblivion is superficial, it's what makes us suffer. But, on the inside, it's what helps us hold on. Oblivion. The oblivion as a distraction from the hurtful tendencies. Oblivion as if she denounced her past, her sadness. Oblivion is superficial, it's what makes us suffer. But, on the inside, it's what helps us hold on. Oblivion opens her heart up until nothing is left inside. The oblivion, just like an tension, has a silver lining in its cloud. Oblivion is a space not understood by anyone. But, to her, it's the place to which her soul roams around.
