More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She just moved back to Italy a few months ago (temporarily?). She became very famous in Quebec and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular. On April and May 2023 she had again a wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, and in Ouzbekhistan and Kazakhstan. Lara Fabian is one of the most beautiful voices, Céline Dion is a great performer, but she does not reach the degree of intensity and emotion that Lara Fabian knows how to convey in her songs.

This was a concert used as a TV recording for a PBS special show. Absolutely insane concert packed with legendary masterpieces. It was supposed to be broadcasted in the US nationwide but the staff of … Celine Dion got it blocked and it was only broadcasted in NYC area. Her staff new she will become a bigger star than Celine, her artistry bag is much bigger, her voice less nasal despite some commonalities tied to their common native french language. She is the main inspiration of Dimash since he is 8yo, he made many covers (including this one) , and you will discover he has captured a lot of her emotions building and conveying approach. She even wrote a song for him and sang with him.

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions. This performance is from her concert “From Lara with Love 1999”, in this concert Lara sings in English, Italian, French and Spanish, several of the songs the lyrics were written by Lara including: Adagio, Broken Vow, You’re Not from Here and Yeliel (My Angel). The music for Adagio in G minor for violin, strings and organ continuo is a Neo-Baroque composition popularly attributed to the 18th century Venetian master Tomaso Albinoni, but in fact composed almost entirely by the 20th century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto. In 1999 Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics to the melody for Adagio. Side note: Lara has been Dimash’s muse since childhood.

History of this show produced in Montréal late 90's by Sony Music and Lara Fabian's Team as a showcase for the American market.. It was supposed to be air on PBS nationally 90 minutes TV special to promote the next voice of Sony Music who had signed her for 2 albums. BUT it was only shown only on PBS New York and........... Céline Dion's Team did not liked it and put pressure on Sony Music to not promote her or else..... so it was never showed in the USA nationally .... Of this album with no radio play , also supposely blocked by Céline"s group she still sold 3 million albums and went back to Europe broken hearted... About 15 years ago Lara's Team decided to release this show on the web.... Her second album with Sony has many big songs from Lara, again never release in the USA only in Canada and Europe....bunch of A Hole...This story alone would make a great movie. She is number one in Brazil, Russia Ukraine , France, Belgium , mid-Asia and Québec Dimash is her biggest Fan since he was a kid. She sold more than 30 million albums and still touring the world, amazing woman
When I heard of what Celine Dion did to block Lara Fabian's PBS special, I lost all respect for Celine and her music, I'm done. There is enough room for everybody in the music business and this was a low blow by Celine and she should have know better IMHO! Because of Celine Dion and her manipulating Lara's career, I just now recently discovered Lara Fabian on a reaction video and I feel I've been deprived of enjoying Lara and her wonderful voice and music for the last 23 years, thanks Celine for nothing!

I'm a Greek woman, Lara was always my fav since I was a teen. Celine wasn't my cup of tea. I think that goes for most Greeks that listen to this kind of music. Sorry, guys, no offense.
