Lara can do live what most other superstars can only do in the studio. That is really her special strength that puts her at the top. Plus, many of the usual greats live up to the more negative connotation of the term "diva". Not so with Lara. She's just a superpowered performer with a sweetness and humility that shines every time!

Even Streisand didn't sing both parts at the same time! Never, nobody! Only Lara! Lara's parents were there at this performance, it was their 30th wedding anniversary and Lara looked at her father many times when she sang...papa...!
I know Barbra fans LOVE Barbra and often will say "nobody" can... But imo, Lara could, and DID. Even Barbra doesn't attempt to sing this live and I don't think she's ever been a "run around the stage" kind of performer (I could be wrong about that in her younger years). All of that notwithstanding, there are so many remarkable things about this performance. It was basically note perfect and the few iffy notes she, very quickly corrected so that most people just listening for pleasure wouldn't even notice. The amount of energy it takes to sing that song standing still is a lot and she was dashing back and forth not taking from any of the vocal delivery...and in heels. But it took watching it a few times for me to actually realize something even more amazing. I missed it because when we watch musicals the actor can be running, dancing, twirling, hiking...all kinds of physical endeavours. But they're singing along to the prerecorded tracks they laid down in a studio so they never sound breathless, their voice never waiver, or jumps or changes volume or flow. Lara, wasn't signing to a track. And she managed to maintain that even volume and flow. There was no waiver in pitch or breath as she walked and ran. Pekole talk about breath support and mostly think that means the ability to sing long phrases or sustain a note for a long time. And it is. But it's also this. Holding tension and maintaining it in such a way that it also behaves like a shock absorber to provide an even, steady supply of air. Truly a feat of singing athleticism.

Did you notice her doing a slow crumple/deep knee bend on the final note? That Fabian, always living dangerously. 🤣 I got choked up the first time I heard/saw this cover, which took me by complete surprise. One continuous live performance note-perfect while running all over the stage is astonishing. Great reaction. Glad it brought back warm fuzzy memories for you. 🖖🏾

It was more like a Broadway/theatrical rendition. She was moving and acting at the same time. As for her voice and delivery, what is understood need not be discussed.

This was early in her career and this was a BIG concert for her in her beloved Montreal. It was a perfect time in her life to showcase her many talents.

That's a myth. Barbra was not there. Lara's parents were there, celebrating their 30th anniversary. Lara did ask Barbra for her permission to perform these songs, and Barbra told her, if anyone can do it, she can.
For me it's just so strange that this woman isn't more recognised worldwide. I like her version more than Streisands (with all respect). Nothing to do with skills I just prefer Laras voice. Simple as that. Amazing performance and from what I have seen here about Lara this is pretty rare to find reactions to. Well done and thanks!

Amazing Lara! Who else can deliver this live, with such perfection and such storytelling skills? No one else could match Barbra, and IMHO she even toped it a bit
I watched a few of Barbra's live performances of this music. It wasn't presented as being about the music. It was all about Barbra and "look at me, I'm wonderful" For me, Barbra's obvious great talent was spoiled by her ego. Her vocals are wonderful but they fail in the pure emotional content because her ego got in the way. Lara doesn't have that problem. And...she has a more beautiful voice. The greats like Mariah, Whitney, and one of my favorites, Karen Carpenter, all had voices that did phenomenal things. But they limited their style to a select genre. Celine has an instrument of great range and capacity and she does know how to use it. But I've never felt one thing emotionally from her, especially the manipulative Titanic song. Also I started watching Celine more once I heard Lara, and Celine's voice is nowhere near as big and resonant. I don't want to take away Celine's great work. She's better than most but if I want to watch a truly dynamic performer other than Lara, I'll watch Floor Jansen. She has phenomenal talent and is exciting as a performer.
@@hornerinf agree on everything, Celine’s voice is less pleasant to my ears than Lara’s in her upper register. I do understand your views on Floor, she is amazing in terms of emotions, and has some heavy/ hard rock capabilities that Lara doesn’t own, but again Lara’s voice is way more pleasant to my ears than Floor’s in the upper register.
@@ericsicard910 I agree. Floor has a great talent and instrument and she knows what to do with it. But again, nobody can match Lara's sheer vocal and musical power. She's the ultimate baddass on the stage.
Very few singers have the stamina to sing a medley like this. So Hyang very likely would be one. While not this medley, her performance of her song 'Everyone' is astounding. If you react to it find the version w. English subs.
With Lara, it's always masterpieces. There's 4 top vocalists... Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Lara Fabian. Barbara is an excellent vocalist but she's in the previous "batch".
Barbara Streisand could never perform like this in a middle of a concert where she’s tired after singing a lot of powerful demanding songs like Lara Fabian.

There is no denying Lara’s talent whatsoever but with all due respect with these songs, no comparison to Barbra Streisand. She seems like she screams this and is way too theatrical. Plus, she could not hold that last note like Barbra could. Sorry, nice try though
Lara did this live. Barbra did her longer note in studio. I have not been able to find Barbra doing this live with the long last note. Maybe it exists and I have missed it.
Barbra is great.. But she toke it in studio and in live performances she never did both part together like Lara did.. About screaming.. Well that's belting and not screaming... Because she is also very low and soft in that song.. And it's teatrale right.. And it's an artistic choose of her.. It's a cover in a show in a theater.. And of course she offers that kind of performance.. Her interpretation is amazing as the amount of emotions that she delivery.. I guess you don't understand enough what is is making a cover and what are style choises sorry
