irene adler was one of the most fascinating characters in recent television history, and the interplay between her and sherlock was so compelling. thats why scandal in belgravia is hands down my favorite episode of sherlock. i'd love to see the character return
yeah but only for like two seconds. i meant more as a character, with a significant part in the episode. although part of her appeal is her elusiveness and her inaccessibility, so she's almost more compelling being absent. now i'm conflicted :-/
I think Lara effing rocked this role. She did brilliant and played her role beautifully. I really loved the chemistry between the two of them, the relationship between Sherlock and Irene was so adorable, and I hope to see more Irene in the series :)
@@cinnamon709 Sherlock didn't text Irene back in this scene because he had better things to do: To comfort John after his mental breakdown. Yes, sometimes did Sherlock text Irene back how he admitted to John, but it was a bad idea to do it.
Moffat and Gatiss followed the original ACD canon, they are huge fans of it. If they would bring her back in a later season, would be this a contradiction to the ACD stories. Sherlock Holmes never met Irene Adler again after he saved her. She was for ever only a nice memory to him. That's canon.
I completely agree. She was incredible in her role, and the chemistry between she and Benedict was smouldering. There are rumours that she's coming back - I hope they're true!
Best interview with LP I've seen... she was perfectly cast to play "The Woman" to Benedict's Sherlock. Looking at her in this video interview, I believe if they ever did a movie about the Duchess of Cambridge, she's be perfect for the part. Their looks are so similar and LP is so very, very talented. And of course, Benedict could play Prince William... their chemistry would be excellent for that.
There is no reason that she shouldn't come back. Their chemistry was like Bogart and Bacall in "The Big Sleep." When two actors are that good together, there's no reason to not add more fuel to the fire.
What? Why do you hate her character? She was amazing and literally the only one to beat Sherlock (his feelings for her) and (in my opinion) she had way more of an effect on him than Moriarty.
@@SiobhanS1868 Irene having more effect on Sherlock than Moriarty is a FAR reach. Sherlock is literally scarred for life because of Moriarty no matter how much he tries to deny it.

I disagree with the comment that Lara has been milking her role for all it's worth. It's not her fault, really, because people just keep asking her about it- even when she's doing different projects, her being butt naked as Irene Adler is always brought up in question. And I think she genuinely enjoys being Irene, she doesn't mind talking about it, and that may come across as milking her one character for all it's worth but I don't think so. I really don't.
Why are you so critical of her? She's lovely and she's not doing anything wrong. She's only answering questions. Actors get asked questions. Meow, meow.
Do you know I was watching a re-run of Sherlock for like the 12th time this month alone when I just suddenly shouted out 'OMG! She's Sookie's Fairy godmother!' I was just sitting like 'I can die in peace now that I know where I remember her from.'
