When you do your middleware check, would the inherent route binding in the Route Service Provider already have done a query to get the Article model? And if so, is there any way to access that model in the middleware do you know? (Also, would you want to additionally exclude the Google tag on a preview?)

You would think so but no, the lookup for the model takes place after the middleware, so you have to look it up yourself. And yes I would, I am using the same view, so I have to check if it’s in preview mode.
