In late October, we had our semi-annual clothes shopping trip for our family of 11. After taking inventory and seeing what we needed and what could be passed down, Tom and I went to Walmart and got all of the shopping done. (I don't really do second-hand shopping because the added time it takes going from store to store over many days to try to find the clothing items I'm looking for doesn't justify, for me, the small savings over Walmart prices.) The next day (Tom's birthday), the kids and I got the closets cleaned, the new clothes marked and put away and the old things ready to sort for trash, storage or donation. That night, we stopped by Walmart one more time after Tom's birthday dinner so I could get a pair of pajamas for Claudia. She didn't need them, but she was sad when all of the younger kids got new ones and she didn't. My mom heart couldn't take it. :) I also sewed 8 new shirts for myself, a new skirt for Eden and new skirt for Sophia and a Christmas vest and bow tie for Solomon. (I didn't get to most of the sewing until almost 6 weeks after our shopping day.) I was happy to sew something for Solomon. I used to sew all sorts of clothes for the four older boys, but once I had Eden I had more fun sewing girl things and quit sewing much for the boys. I didn't think about it until making the vest, but it's one of the few things I've ever sewn for Solomon and it makes me happy to do that for him. Tom bought some emergency shoes for the little girls, but our labelled shoe organizer seems to be doing the trick for us and we haven't needed to use them.

Wow Andrea was so patient with Claudia and all the kids . Every word she spoke I could hear how much she loved being a mother and loved her kids . I miss her :(

I’m not an emotional person by any means, but I just can’t help but cry rewatching these videos 😓 Andrea was such a lovely person and an amazing mother 😥 I can’t believe she’s gone! I can’t believe she won’t be with the kids physically anymore 🥺 Hannah is just a baby and the others are still so young 😞 they need they momma 😟 I will pray 🙏🏾 for you guys! I can only imagine.

I appreciated you saying it’s not about a shopping trip being equal- it’s about everyone having what they need. Only getting them what they each need is such a good habit to instill into children.

So sweet watching Soloman get so touched for his Christmas vest. Lady, you are super Mama. I would love to learn to sew my kids clothes. I can only fix small rips, and buttons by hand. Which does make me feel great having my girls come to me and ask me to please see their clothes. But Ibwould like to be able to customize more.

Just a thought- I use old stained or holy socks for cleaning. Great for dusting and scrubbing baseboards,shelves etc. Then just toss them away after. It’s a one last purpose and saves money and cleaning towels.

I do the same with old t-shirts or towels. I put a giant sharpie X across the front and back so my husband doesn't put them back in with the good clothes/towels.

Solomon was soooo happy with the vest. I enjoyed seeing what you made. About 30 years ago I also cut off jeans, in a v shape, then added calico fabric to the bottom. Brings back memories of sewing adventures.

Such a sweet video Andrea, I love watching these bi-annual hauls and all the kids putting away their new clothes, shoes and other bits and pieces. Solomon and his vest made my heart smile. Isn't it just the best feeling when we as Mum's can do or make something like this that we just know will mean the world to one of our children? It is one of the joys of motherhood finding moments/acts like this that will stay with our little one and make them feel loved even years and years down the track. Claudia picking out her new pajamas, lol....so cute! She knows her mind that one, and it's wonderful! The girl's skirts you made look really pretty Andrea and you must feel lovely having new tops for you too (sometimes we as Mum's are left wearing the raggedy clothes for the longest whilst every one else takes priority...but it makes having something new for ourselves that bit more special when our time comes). Thank you for continuing to share your life Andrea. There are times when I'm struggling with my life and my failings as a Mum that it hurts too much to watch your videos for a time. I am always grateful that they are here waiting for me when the storm dies down inside me and I'm ready for some positivity again. xo

It’s so great that you can sew too! I remember my mom making some of my clothes too! Little sweat shirt and pants outfits. She would use puffy paint to decorate the sweatshirt remember puffy paint?

Omgosh the skirt made out of the jeans is so adorable my almost 13 year old daughter loves hand sewing and has adapted some of her old shirts and dresses for her little sister to wear

Andrea, You are such an amazing Mom, big inspiration!!! I've wanted to write to tell you this but I haven't found the time. I had a miscarriage last year(August 2017), would have been baby #7, it was heartbreaking then I saw your announcement video that baby #9 was due in April which was the same month I would have been due. At first I couldn't bring myself to watch it. After awhile when I finally did, I cried, and tears for myself but then happy tears for you, I was truly happy for you!! Watching each baby preparation video of yours was very healing for me which I did not expect! I loved watching how you celebrated a new baby, making blankets, baby products, etc. Which showed how special each baby is for you. Then in March we found out we were pregnant, we weren't really "trying" but it was a wonderful but scary surprise. That was my 1st miscarriage so I had no idea what to expect with this pregnancy. April was a hard month for me but once again your videos were so very helpful & inspiring. I had a lot of mixed feelings for the baby we lost & this new miracle due in November. Seeing Hannah's birth was so sweet and watching her grow helped calm me. Now I am beyond happy to say that our baby girl Willow is here, she was born November 14th 9lbs 2 oz. She has healed my heart & I couldn't imagine life without her. Thank you Andrea for sharing so much of your life, you may not realize it but you touch so many lives in different ways just by being you. And that I believe was exactly God's plan for you. You are a Light for others & a Gift to many!!!

The picture that is above your thermostat reminded me of my grandmother. She had that same picture in her house. She passed away this past March from complications of a stroke. Seeing the picture made my heart happy!!

You have way more patience than I do, look at that pattern matching in the vest! I make a birthday dress every year for one of my patients and I won’t buy a fabric that needs to be pattern matched and sometimes I try to sell her on fabric that’s not directional too 🤪 but one of her dresses that has a directional animal print fabric is so GORGEOUS so I’ve softened my stance on that now. I wish I could insert a photo.

Regarding your comment about routinely purging Hannah's things she's outgrown -- in my experience, you're doing the right thing. My Mom passed January 2108. In cleaning her house, I found she kept EVERYTHING from when I was baby (I am 57) to kindergarten graduation dress to my make-believe kitchen to prom dresses....all neatly tucked away. I am 57 with no children or grandchildren so no one to pass anything along too. I didn't know she loved me so much.
