Kevin's customer service is phenomenal. I work the overnight shift at the PD and sent him an email at 0100hrs about pump questions for my new 2025R that I'd recently ordered and bam, I got a near instant very thorough email back from him on recommendations and statistics. Amazing customer service. I'll definitely be buying the Stage 3 kit when my tractor comes in.

Hi Tim, Increasing the capacity is a neat concept. My biggest concern is the longevity of the tractor. Buying a modified tractor with some of these upgrades, such as larger cylinders, would make me nervous. On the other hand, increasing the pump capacity, however is a great idea. I actually think these tractors should have been designed with more pump flow right from the factory.

I agree, the higher pump flow would be welcome. It's also much smoother to operate.

My l525 loader has tiny cylinders for the the size of the loader it’s very smooth and I love the way the valve is made to do two functions at once without any issues, I just think the lift capacity is 10-15% under what I’d like and it’s too fast; I’d often wondered about bigger cylinders. I wasn’t thrilled about “shimming” to build pump pressure. I like Kevin’s approach for a lot of reasons. Don’t let the orange allergy keep ya away! They need a little help too.

My neighbors son, who can tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet, broke the load arm off of his skid steer about 8" up from the pivot point. I have no idea what he was doing. So he brought it over and I got it all aligned back up and welded it. It took about a dozen or so rod to build up all of the grinding I did but it was welded. Then he got stuck in mud up above the tracks and was trying to pull himself out with the bucket and ripped it off from the back side. Since it's made for lifting more than pulling it was weaker on the back side. So I ground off more as now it was bent and got it all aligned back up and welded it again. Then I heated up a large truck leaf spring in my forge and formed it to wrap around the whole thing. He hasn't been back. But this proves that even with the supplied hydraulics you can tear up your equipment.

I'm already adding the new pump to my wish list. That was amazing to see how fast the backhoe was moving at an idle. I'm thinking another area to watch for added stress or breakage could be those outriggers on the backhoe since you'd be able to pull harder while curling and maybe potentially bend something while its all planted firmly in the ground and the whole tractor wants to heave backwards. Tim is definitely on the bleeding edge of trying out new products and stress testing them so we don't have to and to see what works or fails.

One more comment, the issue of not enough hydraulic flow is not limited to compact tractors. One the farm I used to work at, we had a John Deere 8520 tractor, and it was running out of hydraulic flow when connected to a John Deere 24 row planter. The next year we upgraded to a 9000 series tractor to overcome this issue.

I have a 2038R with a non-self leveling loader. Now, I'm sure there are scenarios where I could run out of lift, but I have scooped up a FULL bucket of pea gravel and carried it away with no issues, no hesitation, nothing. On the other hand, that curl cylinder on the 270B has me very, very interested. I ordered a 12" bucket, and I am having all kinds of fun digging up stumps, but it does run out of oomph when I need it most. Concerns: As I'm sure you know, the backhoe moves the whole tractor around when it is really working, and the leveling legs kinda take a lot of abuse. Due to rank stupidity on my part, I get to replace those arms at some point (tried to extend them with pins in) A thousand dollar mistake. They seem to be the weak point to me. What do you think? Will the extra pull damage them? And by the way, thanks. Your video comparing the 1025R and the 2038R was key in my decision making process.

Going from a 1.5" cylinder to a 2" cylinder is almost double the lifting force. A better, safer choice would be a 1.75" cylinder, that would yield a 50% increase in lift force with significantly less of a speed penalty.

Why don’t you figure out a Modification to “Disable Self-Leveling”, when you don’t need it?
@eosjoe565
@eosjoe565 Год назад
How would you do that exactly? Keep in mind, these loaders are "MSL". That means "Mechanical" self leveling. Meaning it's the linkage that keeps the bucket level. There is no way to disable that. There are other style loaders which are "HSL" meaning "Hydraulic" self leveling. On those the operator can turn the leveling feature on and off.

I would be very hesitant to do this, with out a lot of structural analysis. The systems you are playing with are designed by some highly trained and experienced engineers to use the miminmum amount of materials to meet the design standard, plus a safety factor.
